On the afternoon of October 25, Colonel Nguyen Ha Lai, Deputy Director of Quang Nam Provincial Police, confirmed that the police had summoned and detained Ms. Hoang Thi Kim Chau, former Director of Bach Dat An Joint Stock Company.

Former General Director of Bach Dat An JSC is criminally detained

According to Mr. Lai, Ms. Chau was criminally detained in an emergency case to clarify issues related to the misuse of funds raised by Bach Dat An Joint Stock Company from the public. Initially, the investigating agency proved that the amount involved was 5 billion VND (approximately $217,390).

Colonel Lai said that, as per regulations, the criminal detention is carried out within a one-day period. Ms. Chau was summoned and detained on the morning of October 25.

It is known that in May 2017, Bach Dat An Joint Stock Company was established with a charter capital of 20 billion VND (approximately $869,560), with Ms. Hoang Thi Kim Chau as the General Director and legal representative.

In July 2017, the People’s Committee of Quang Nam Province approved the transfer of investment tasks of 14 projects from Bach Dat Limited Liability Company to Bach Dat An Joint Stock Company.

Since 2017, Bach Dat An Joint Stock Company has signed contracts with Hoang Nhat Nam Company to distribute three projects: Bach Dat Urban Area, 7B Expanded Urban Area, and Hera Complex Riverside Urban Area (in Dien Ban Town).

Hoang Nhat Nam Company has brokered deals for about 1,000 customers with 1,100 land lots. However, Bach Dat An Joint Stock Company later demanded the termination of the contract, refusing to hand over the land or issue land ownership certificates to the customers. This led to legal disputes, and although the court has ruled on the case, it remains unresolved.

In July, the Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and the Chairman of the People’s Committee of Quang Nam Province presided over a dialogue with representatives of land buyers and related companies. At the dialogue, Bach Dat An Joint Stock Company committed to continuing the projects. Currently, there are positive developments as the deadlines for the three projects have been extended.
