Apple has unveiled the new Mac mini M4 lineup, featuring a compact design and improved performance thanks to the M4 chip. The Verge got a hands-on experience with the product, showcasing a noticeable difference from its predecessors.
Compared to previous generations of the Mac mini, the M4 version is significantly more compact, measuring just 12.7 x 12.7 cm, making the older models look bulky in comparison. Additionally, the M4 weighs only 680g, which is incredibly lightweight for a desktop computer.
Vjeran Pavic, a reporter from The Verge who had the opportunity to test the device, commented that the Mac mini resembles “a mini Mac Studio” rather than a miniaturized Mac mini.
This streamlined size makes it easy for users to place the device anywhere, from a cramped workspace to a modern office setup. However, it’s worth noting that the power button is located on the underside of the device, requiring users to lift it up to turn it on/off, which could be a minor inconvenience in daily use.
Powerful Specifications
The Mac mini M4 is equipped with the new M4 chip, featuring 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU, delivering fast performance for everyday tasks as well as graphics-intensive workloads. The base model of the Mac mini M4 comes with 16GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. This is a significant upgrade compared to the previous Mac mini M1 and M2 models, which offered only 8GB of RAM in their base configurations.
The M4 also features a new set of connectivity options, including two USB-C ports conveniently located on the front for easy access. On the back, you’ll find three Thunderbolt 4 ports, an HDMI 2.1 port, and an Ethernet port, enabling support for 4K and 8K video output. Compared to the older Mac mini models, the M4 has completely done away with USB-A ports.
In Vietnam, the pricing for this model starts at 14.99 million VND. Another notable aspect is Apple’s special discount program for the education sector. Through the Apple Store for Education, eligible students, teachers, and staff in educational institutions across Vietnam can purchase the Mac mini M4 at a discounted price of 12.49 million VND.
