The visits are made at the invitation of UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jasim Al-Thani; and Saudi Arabian Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed Bin Salman.
The official delegation accompanying Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife, Le Thi Bich Tran, on this trip includes: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son; Minister and Chairman of the Government Office Tran Van Son; Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien; Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung; Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung; Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat; Minister of Justice Nguyen Hai Ninh; Deputy Minister of National Defense, Senior Lieutenant General Le Huy Vinh; Deputy Minister of Public Security, Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung; Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc; Vietnamese Ambassador to the UAE Nguyen Thanh Diep; Vietnamese Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Dang Xuan Dung; and Vietnamese Ambassador to Qatar Nguyen Huy Hiep. Leaders of several ministries, sectors, and localities also joined the delegation.
This is the first official visit by a Vietnamese Prime Minister to the UAE and Qatar in 15 years and the first by a Vietnamese head of government to Saudi Arabia since the establishment of diplomatic relations. For the first time, the Vietnamese Prime Minister is the main guest and the only Asian leader to speak at the 8th Future Investment Initiative Conference hosted by Saudi Arabia.
The UAE, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia are among the most economically powerful and influential countries in the Middle East. In Vietnam’s foreign policy, these three countries are important, long-term, and comprehensive partners in various fields in the region.
Vietnam is also regarded by these countries as a key partner in Southeast Asia, and they attach great importance to their relationship with Vietnam in their “Look East” policy. Recently, the relationship between Vietnam and the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar has been flourishing, with substantial results and closer coordination in supporting each other at multilateral forums.
The Prime Minister’s visit is expected to boost traditional areas of cooperation, create new breakthroughs in potential areas, especially in economic, trade, and investment relations, as well as new fields. Most importantly, it will firmly establish political trust to pave the way for a new phase of cooperation between Vietnam and these three countries, as well as the entire region.
This visit is a practical and vivid step in implementing the foreign policy of the 13th National Party Congress, with a focus on multilateralization, diversification, and proactive, active international integration. This includes prioritizing the diversification of markets, partners, and supply chains, contributing to consolidating a peaceful and cooperative environment and maximizing resources for the country’s development.
