THE ALLURE OF A NEW SPORT AND THE MESSAGE OF “RACING FOR DREAMS”
“DNSE Aquaman Vietnam” is a dual-discipline race, combining swimming and running, organized by VnExpress Marathon – the largest running event series in Vietnam. With the aim of promoting the aquathlon in the country, the swimming and running courses are designed by experts based on the standards of professional aquathlon events, in consultation with the Vietnam Athletics Federation, the International Marathon and Road Running Association (AIMS), the Vietnam Triathlon Federation, and local authorities.
Combining professionalism with the appeal of a fresh sport, the competition offers sports enthusiasts the chance to test and challenge themselves with a combination of running and swimming. Mr. Nguyen Hoang Giang, Chairman of DNSE Securities, shared: “Sea swimming is a big and exciting challenge for participants, and it’s also an opportunity for them to break through their limits, discover their potential, and conquer new races. That’s the spirit that DNSE Aquaman Vietnam always wants to convey.”
After three seasons, with the message of “Racing for Dreams,” the event has continued to expand its scale, attracting more athletes to train and join the aquathlon. This year, “DNSE Aquaman Vietnam 2024” in Ho Tram is expected to host 2,000 athletes. Mr. Giang said, “In addition to improving the quality of the competition and the accompanying experiences year after year, the enthusiastic participation of new groups of athletes in this sport has made the event more meaningful and valuable. The message of ‘dare to dream – dare to conquer’ has spread widely and become more accessible, and we are very proud of that.”
A “GREEN” RACE AT ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BEACHES ON THE PLANET
“DNSE Aquaman Vietnam 2024” will take place on December 1, 2024, in Ho Tram, Vung Tau, a beach stretching over 30km through Long Hai town and Binh Chau commune, Xuyen Moc district. Located about 125km southeast of Ho Chi Minh City, this beach was once voted by CNNGo as one of the most pristine and beautiful beaches on the planet.
Athletes will conquer a swimming course along the fine white sandy beach and crystal-clear waters. For the running segment, they will compete on the straight and flat coastal road of Loc An – Binh Chau, with the sea on one side and the primitive forest of Binh Chau – Phuoc Buu on the other, offering a picturesque landscape where the ocean meets the mountains.
Taking place in the dry season on December 1, the weather is expected to be sunny and ideal for tourism and sports competitions. According to the organizers, the waves are usually gentle and the wind calm in the morning during this time of the year. Additionally, the competition venue offers a wide range of visibility, a long and straight beach, and minimal rip currents.
Along with enjoying the lush natural environment, the organizers also promote a “green” race, minimizing plastic waste and prioritizing eco-friendly materials in setting up the swimming and running courses. The organizers aim not only to ensure favorable and safe conditions for the athletes but also to protect the environment and marine life.
A PANEL OF KNOWLEDGEABLE AND INSPIRING KOLs AND VARIOUS SIDE ACTIVITIES
“DNSE Aquaman Vietnam 2024” features a panel of knowledgeable and inspiring KOLs who will engage in practical activities before, during, and after the event. As an ambassador for the race, national triathlon champion Lam Quang Nhat will share a series of articles providing expertise, training techniques, and racing strategies for the dual-discipline event. Vietnam’s top swimmer, Nguyen Thi Anh Vien, will also join in, sharing short videos with tips and swimming techniques.
Former swimmer and well-known actress Kha Ngan, known for her dynamic and sporty image, plans to participate in the Sprint Aqua distance (500m swim, 5km run) at this year’s event. Currently training for her first attempt at a dual-discipline race, she shared her hope to motivate the sports-loving community and relive her childhood dream by taking part in “DNSE Aquaman Vietnam 2024.”
This year, in addition to investing in the quality of the competition, the organizers of “DNSE Aquaman Vietnam 2024” will offer various side activities, including an outdoor music stage. Here, spectators can enjoy vibrant musical performances by the sea and soak in the exhilarating atmosphere leading up to the race.

Registration for the event is currently open for the Regular phase, offering four distances: Sprint Aqua (500m swim, 5km run), Half Aqua (1km swim, 10km run), Aquaman individual (2km swim, 21km run), and a relay race (only for the Aquaman distance).
