At the workshop, experts shared insights on this “sensitive” issue. Erectile dysfunction is a bothersome condition for men’s sexual health. A study from the University of Massachusetts found that it affects 50% of men between 40 and 70 years old. Globally, approximately 150 million men suffer from erectile dysfunction, and in Vietnam, the condition is becoming more prevalent and affecting younger men, with 18-20-year-olds at risk.

In his presentation, “Erectile Dysfunction – Pharmacy Counseling,” ThS. BS Le Vu Tan from the Department of Andrology at Binh Dan Hospital, equipped An Khang pharmacists with vital knowledge about the condition, including its causes, symptoms, and treatment methods. He emphasized the crucial role of collaboration between doctors and pharmacists in counseling, screening for complications, and comprehensive risk management.

ThS. BS Le Vu Tan discussed a care solution for erectile dysfunction patients, highlighting the use of phosphodiesterase inhibitors, a widely-used treatment option. This class of drugs has proven effective in improving erectile function in diverse patient groups, regardless of age, weight, ethnicity, underlying causes, severity, or duration. Sildenafil, a prominent molecule within this group, stands out for its ability to facilitate a rapid improvement in erectile function, with effects lasting up to 12 hours.

Given the sensitive nature of the condition, ThS. BS Le Vu Tan underscored the importance of pharmacists and doctors in encouraging patients to open up about erectile dysfunction to seek effective treatment solutions.

ThS. BS Le Vu Tan’s insights align with research conducted by Abbott, a leading global healthcare company. At the workshop, pharmacist Do Thi Cam Tu from Abbott Healthcare Vietnam presented additional evidence: a meta-analysis of 11 double-blind, placebo-controlled studies involving 2,667 erectile dysfunction patients by Carson et al. in 2002 showed that 99% of patients experienced improved sexual activity, and 96% reported satisfaction with Sildenafil-based treatment.

Encouraged by these results, Abbott Healthcare Vietnam has developed and introduced a Sildenafil-based product to the market as a leading solution to enhance the quality of life for patients with erectile dysfunction.

The scientific presentation “Healthcare Solutions from Abbott Healthcare Vietnam” offered An Khang pharmacists valuable insights into the company’s quality commitments and its approach to treating erectile dysfunction.

Following the presentations, An Khang pharmacists engaged in a discussion session with the experts. This provided an opportunity for direct exchanges, allowing them to delve into specialized topics and focus on relevant treatment needs. The discussion session not only enhanced their knowledge but also boosted their confidence in providing counseling and delivering optimal treatment support to patients.

The An Khang pharmacy team is dedicated to continuously updating their knowledge and enhancing their expertise to provide the best possible counseling and support to their customers.
