Mr. Van Tran Hoan, Chairman of Hai Phong Football Club, has recently attracted attention by sending a petition to the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism regarding the Vietnam national football team’s inability to play at My Dinh Stadium due to a conflict with the ‘Anh Trai Say Hi’ show. Mr. Hoan, Chairman of Hai Phong Football Club, expressed his willingness to compensate for any damages to allow the Vietnam team to play at the National Stadium.
Mr. Hoan shared that he couldn’t bear to see the team having to play away from the national stadium just because of a prior event held there. “I was so heartbroken that I couldn’t sleep or eat for many nights,” the chairman of Hai Phong Club said.
Mr. Van Tran Hoan, born in 1969, became the “chairman” of Hai Phong football on April 23, 2021, succeeding Mr. Tran Manh Hung. Apart from his position as Chairman of Hai Phong Football Club, Mr. Hoan is also a well-known entrepreneur in the city of Haiphong.
Currently, Mr. Van Tran Hoan is the representative and Director of Song Hong JSC, a company engaged in construction, real estate, and transportation. He also served as a member of the Board of Directors of Viconship, a company that holds the largest market share of ports in Hai Phong.
Song Hong Joint Stock Company was established on November 19, 2003, headquartered in Niem Nghia Ward, Le Chan District, Hai Phong City. The company’s main registered business line is the construction of traffic works.
Apart from construction, the company also provides additional services such as import and export of goods; road and waterway passenger and cargo transportation; leasing of construction machinery and equipment; wholesale of iron, steel, and zinc sheets; real estate business, land use rights of ownership, or lease; retail sale of motor fuel in specialized stores; wholesale and retail sale of food; and aquaculture.
Before becoming a well-known entrepreneur in the port city, Mr. Van Tran Hoan was famous as a passionate supporter. He often traveled long distances to cheer for Hai Phong Club and the Vietnam national team. He is one of the few Vietnamese fans who have attended multiple World Cups, including Japan and South Korea in 2002, Germany in 2006, and South Africa in 2010.
At the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, Mr. Hoan spent tens of thousands of dollars to hire a helicopter just to fly around the stadium.
On the other hand, in the petition sent to the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, the Chairman of Hai Phong Club proposed handing over My Dinh Stadium to the Vietnam Football Federation. Mr. Hoan also stated that football clubs and sponsors are ready to join hands to take care of My Dinh Stadium. The 14 V-league teams will each be responsible for taking care of the pitch for one month (valued at about VND 200 million per month).
“Hai Phong Football Club will take responsibility for the first year, starting in 2025,” Mr. Hoan wrote in the petition.
