In just a few months, the first premium seaside resort in Northern Vietnam bearing the InterContinental brand, InterContinental Halong Bay, will open its doors. Developed by BIM Land, a member of the BIM Group, the resort is poised to welcome guests during the peak summer tourism season in Ha Long in 2025. This project also marks the fifth collaboration between BIM Land and the global hotel management giant, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG).

“IHG’s service philosophy and design style, which harmoniously blends with the local culture, align perfectly with BIM Land’s product development vision and orientation,” explained a representative from BIM Land. With nearly 80 years of global experience, IHG is selective about its partners, setting stringent standards for design, construction quality, and service infrastructure. BIM Land has proven its mettle by becoming one of IHG’s leading partners in Southeast Asia, with six signed projects, four of which are already operational in Vietnam and Laos.

Success from the First Collaborations

The first notable collaboration between these two brands was the Crowne Plaza Vientiane hotel. In 2017, IHG, alongside BIM Group, introduced the first 5-star hotel in Laos, marking their presence in the “Land of a Million Elephants.” Building on this success, BIM Land and IHG recently inaugurated the Holiday Inn & Suites Vientiane in October 2024. This hotel is part of a premium complex that includes a commercial center and office space in Vientiane, Laos’ capital.

The successful projects in Laos not only cemented the strategic partnership between BIM Land and IHG but also fostered cultural exchange and development between Vietnam and Laos. Additionally, BIM Land and IHG have focused their efforts on developing the domestic market by establishing a presence in several top tourist destinations in Vietnam.

On the island of Phu Quoc, the InterContinental Phu Quoc Long Beach Resort welcomed guests in January 2019. This resort has received accolades from industry experts and international travel magazines, boasting a collection of prestigious national and international awards. Notably, it has been recognized as the Best Luxury Family Resort in Asia and Vietnam by World Travel Awards for six consecutive years. According to BIM Land’s performance report as of August 2024, InterContinental Phu Quoc boasts an impressive Revenue Generation Index (RGI) of 1.54, indicating superior revenue per available room compared to the market average.

Demonstrating their commitment to setting new luxury standards in Phu Quoc and Vietnam, BIM Land convinced IHG to introduce its Regent brand to the island. Launched in 2022, Regent Phu Quoc is the first seaside resort in Southeast Asia to bear the Regent name, offering 6-star accommodations with unique designs and experiences that embody the brand’s service philosophy.

Regent Phu Quoc has quickly become a preferred destination for Asian celebrities, entrepreneurs, and prominent figures, including TVB beauty Chung Gia Hân, actress Hồ Hạnh Nhi and her husband, entrepreneur Philip Lee, as well as former beauty queen Jennifer Phạm and her family. The resort has also consistently represented Vietnam in renowned international rankings, such as Travel + Leisure’s top 5 most beloved resorts in Southeast Asia in 2023 and Independent’s top 6 best beach hotels in the world in 2022.

“These achievements reflect the overall development trend of the luxury resort segment bearing international brands, targeting high-spending customer groups,” shared a BIM Land representative. This segment enjoys a competitive edge due to IHG’s global network, international service standards, and a loyalty program with a massive user base of hundreds of millions of members.

InterContinental Halong Bay Slated for Operation in QI/2025

Following the success of their Phu Quoc ventures, BIM Land and IHG are expanding their presence in Northern Vietnam with InterContinental Halong Bay. This project is expected to be a game-changer for the region’s hospitality market, which currently lacks internationally branded hotels and resorts developed to luxury standards.

Strategically located by the sea, overlooking the bay, InterContinental Halong Bay is designed to offer luxurious living experiences alongside the world-renowned natural wonder of Ha Long Bay. The resort embodies IHG’s famous philosophy, “Live the InterContinental Life.”

Operated by IHG, the project has already attracted international guests to Ha Long, including IHG’s loyal customer base of over 100 million members, all belonging to the high-income segment. These guests are always on the lookout for new destinations to explore, and Ha Long, already a globally recognized tourist hotspot, is now poised to become even more prominent with the arrival of InterContinental Halong Bay.

The resort, nestled on the shores of the heritage-rich Ha Long Bay, is expected to commence operations in the first quarter of 2025, attracting investors who want to capitalize on the summer 2025 travel season. It also presents an opportunity for investors to acquire sustainable income-generating assets by owning Sky Residences, luxurious villas in the sky situated in the most desirable locations and offering breathtaking views.
