On November 15, in Can Tho city, the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Trading Cooperatives (Saigon Co.op) held a ceremony to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Sense City shopping mall system in localities across the country.

Boosting Local Economies

Mr. Pham Hoang An, deputy general director of Saigon Co.op Investment Development Joint Stock Company (SCID, a member of Saigon Co.op), said that since 2004, Saigon Co.op has inaugurated the first Co.opmart Can Tho supermarket – Saigon Co.op’s first modern retail outlet in the province.

To expand the modern retail model, Saigon Co.op/SCID has developed the Sense City shopping mall chain, starting from Can Tho and then expanding to other provinces such as Ben Tre, Ca Mau, Ho Chi Minh City, and many other provinces.

Thanks to the relentless efforts of Saigon Co.op/SCID, along with the positive accompaniment and support from local leaders and partners, the Sense City shopping mall has quickly become a familiar destination in the lives of local people.

The presence of the Sense City shopping mall in prime locations has contributed to boosting the local economy and clearly reflecting the modern consumption trends of Vietnamese people. This affirms Saigon Co.op/SCID’s commitment to constantly innovating and investing in building modern shopping mall models to meet the increasing demands of customers nationwide.

“Continuing the journey of 10 years with encouraging achievements, the leadership of Saigon Co.op/SCID places all their trust and expectations in the Sense City leadership team and staff to successfully fulfill the aspiration to develop and build an even stronger Sense City shopping mall chain. We aim for Sense City to not only be a story of brand development but also a journey of community building, where people can interact, connect, and share,” shared Mr. An.

Continuous Investment in Can Tho

Speaking at the anniversary program, Mr. Ha Vu Son, Director of the Can Tho Department of Industry and Trade, said that the city’s economic structure comprises 53% of the trade and service sector, and in the first nine months of 2024, the city’s trade and service sector reached VND 125,000 billion.

According to Mr. Son, the development of Can Tho city has been significantly contributed to by Saigon Co.op, especially Sense City. Not stopping there, Saigon Co.op has also invested in three more supermarkets in Can Tho city and, most recently, the impressive 4-star Charmant Suites hotel.

“Can Tho city recognizes that development requires the contribution of enterprises, and your enterprise is a very important internal force. I hope that, in the future, under the leadership of the Party Committee and the Board of Directors, Saigon Co.op will continue to promote the results and achievements and strongly promote the enterprise culture of Saigon Co.op to create a new history, becoming the strongest brand in the retail sector in Can Tho and the Mekong Delta provinces.

The Department of Industry and Trade will create the most favorable conditions for enterprises to invest, cooperate, and develop. The Department will serve enterprises instead of asking for favors as before,” Mr. Son committed.

On the occasion of the 10th anniversary, Sense City launched a series of special events to celebrate the birthday, taking place from now until December 2024, including:

Special Promotion: Discounts for customers when shopping at Sense City; a lucky draw program, “Shop and Win a Car” with attractive prizes worth up to VND 800 million.

Cultural Activities: Talent shows and vibrant performances at shopping malls such as “Sense City’s Got Talent” and “The Beauty of Vietnam.”
