Indonesian Media: VinFast Inspires its Neighbors
“In a short span of time, VinFast has surpassed gasoline-powered competitors to become the best-selling automotive brand in the Vietnamese market in 10 months of 2024,” emphasized CNN Indonesia, highlighting that the number-one position in Vietnam has solidified VinFast’s pioneering role in the global green transition.
The publication cited that in October 2024, VinFast recorded over 11,000 electric vehicle deliveries, a 21% increase from the previous month. Thus, from the beginning of the year until the end of October, VinFast delivered more than 51,000 vehicles, claiming the top spot in the Vietnamese market.
CNBC Indonesia described this achievement as a “miracle,” as the journey from zero to hero for the Vietnamese automaker took place within just two years.
Meanwhile, according to CNN Indonesia, the success of the Vietnamese electric vehicle company has inspired neighboring countries such as Indonesia.
Indonesian media commented that VinFast embodies not only the determined spirit of the Vietnamese but also represents the innovation of Southeast Asia—a region that has long depended on technology imports from developed countries.
“Thousands of Vietnamese have joined the global green revolution by choosing VinFast electric vehicles. VinFast’s success in convincing Vietnamese consumers to switch to electric vehicles is a strong statement for the prospects of electric mobility in Southeast Asia,” wrote CNN Indonesia.
Dutch Newspaper Explains VinFast’s Success
According to Baaz (The Netherlands), VinFast’s multi-product, multi-market strategy has enabled the Nasdaq-listed electric vehicle maker to adapt to macroeconomic fluctuations. “With a diverse range of smart products that apply advanced technologies focused on consumers, VinFast is making the dream of electrification easier for everyone, becoming an important piece in a sustainably growing industry,” wrote Baaz.

The newspaper pointed out that the two main models that contributed to VinFast’s leading position in October 2024 were the mini e-SUV VF 3, with nearly 5,000 units, and the VF 5 electric car in the A-segment, with more than 2,600 units. Other models, including VF 6, VF 7, VF 8, VF 9, and VF e34, also achieved impressive business results, indicating that Vietnamese consumers are increasingly favoring electric vehicles and supporting the green mobility trend.
“Vietnam is one of the few countries in the world where electric vehicles outsell gasoline cars. Notably, VinFast achieved this feat just two years after transitioning to electric vehicle manufacturing and business,” emphasized Baaz.
