On the occasion of the Anti-Counterfeiting and Piracy Day (November 29), the morning of November 22, 2024, at 62 Trang Tien, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi, the General Department of Market Management organized an open house at the Exhibition House with the theme “Understand Genuine Products – Avoid Counterfeits.”
The exhibition house will be open to visitors from November 22 to November 29, 2024.
This is the 14th time the exhibition house has opened its doors to visitors to learn about information and identification signs of genuine and counterfeit goods for some high-demand products in the market, thereby helping consumers proactively equip themselves with product knowledge and protect themselves and their families.
With the theme “Understand Genuine Products – Avoid Counterfeits,” this exhibition is divided into two areas, displaying over 450 products across five main fields and industries, including: Fashion; Cosmetics and Personal Care; Food and Beverage; Kitchen Equipment; and Electronics.
Notable among these are brands from countries such as Germany, the United States, Japan, South Korea, China, and Vietnam. Examples include skincare cosmetics from Daiichi Sankyo, and Korean beauty brands Innisfree and Laneige.

Additionally, there are various other products on display, such as YKK locks; ASICS footwear; clothing from HUMAN MADE and UniQLo; Honda helmets and engine oil from Japan; kitchen utensils and equipment like knives, chopsticks, spoons, and forks from the German brand Zwilling; and bird’s nest products from Vietnam.
Most of the exhibited products are displayed with genuine and counterfeit versions side by side, allowing consumers to easily compare and identify them, thereby equipping themselves with knowledge when shopping and avoiding purchasing low-quality and unsafe products.
According to Ms. Nguyen Minh Phuong, Chief of Office of the General Department of Market Management, the theme “Understand Genuine Products – Avoid Counterfeits” has been consistently promoted by the Department to effectively observe the Anti-Counterfeiting and Piracy Day, as approved by the Government upon the proposal of the Vietnam Anti-Counterfeiting and Brand Protection Association since 2007.
The exhibition is expected to help Vietnamese consumers understand basic information about goods and avoid purchasing fraudulent products in the market, thus protecting themselves and their families.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Naito Yasuaki, Director of the Japan Patent Office (JPO) in Southeast Asia, shared that while many Japanese products are popular in Vietnam, counterfeiting of Japanese brands in the country has also increased significantly.
Therefore, Japan has been actively engaging with Vietnamese government agencies to address this issue. The exhibition organized by the General Department of Market Management on identifying genuine and counterfeit goods helps convey the extent and seriousness of counterfeiting to consumers.
“We regularly monitor the circulation of counterfeit Japanese brands in Vietnam and are agile in capturing new trends,” said Mr. Naito Yasuak. “Japan is stepping up its efforts to combat counterfeit goods that pose health risks to consumers, such as cosmetics and medicines.”
To prevent counterfeiting, the JPO representative encouraged businesses from both countries to maximize the support of relevant agencies like the JPO and the General Department of Market Management in combating counterfeiting and minimizing losses for enterprises.
Additionally, he emphasized the importance of raising consumer awareness about the seriousness of counterfeiting in local communities and closely cooperating with Vietnamese law enforcement agencies to strengthen the fight against counterfeiting.
