Scooters are designed with convenience in mind. When riding this type of vehicle, users don’t have to worry about the clutch or gears, and they often provide better storage space and a more comfortable footrest.
While scooters are typically suited for urban commuting, manufacturers have taken things a step further by blending in characteristics from other types of vehicles, resulting in unique models like the Honda X-ADV 750.
The Honda X-ADV 750 is a high-end scooter with a twist. It blurs the lines between a scooter and an off-road bike, offering a unique riding experience.
To be precise, the Honda X-ADV 750 belongs to the Maxi-Scooter segment, which consists of large-displacement scooters. The 2025 version is powered by a 745cc four-stroke, twin-cylinder, 8-valve SOHC engine that delivers 57.8 horsepower at 6,750 rpm and 69 Nm of torque at 4,750 rpm.
Despite its large engine, the X-ADV 750’s appeal isn’t about top speed. Instead, it’s all about tackling rough terrain. With a ground clearance of 165mm and all-terrain tires, it can handle uneven roads with ease.
Popular scooters like the Vespa LX125, Honda SH150i, and Honda Vision typically feature a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that automatically adjusts to maintain optimal performance without the need for gear changes.
However, the Honda X-ADV 750 breaks the mold by offering a 6-speed transmission with a wet, dual-clutch automatic gearbox. This means the bike can either shift gears automatically based on riding conditions or allow the rider to take control in manual mode.
This type of wet dual-clutch transmission is commonly found in high-end cars and even supercars like the Lamborghini Revuelto. The inclusion of a geared transmission in the X-ADV 750 has sparked debates about whether it truly qualifies as a scooter.
In terms of technology, the Honda X-ADV 750 surpasses ordinary scooters. It comes with four default riding modes: Sport, Standard, Rain, and Gravel. Additionally, Honda offers a User Mode that allows riders to customize various parameters, including power output, torque, engine brake level, ABS settings, and engine rpm.
The X-ADV 750 also boasts features like cruise control, a parking brake, a smart key system, and voice control functionality.
While Honda does not officially distribute this model in Vietnam, private dealers import it from overseas. According to market sources, some dealers are importing the X-ADV 750 from Italy, with prices reaching up to 700 million VND.
This price point is relatively high for a 700cc bike. In comparison, Honda’s Transalp XL750, with a 750cc engine, is officially priced at over 300 million VND. Similarly, the Triump Tiger 660 and Kawasaki Versys 650 are available for around 300 million VND and over 250 million VND, respectively.
