On the morning of November 25, as part of his working visit to the Kingdom of Denmark, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha visited and worked at the headquarters of AP Moller Maersk, a leading global maritime transport and logistics company.

Mr. Vincent Clerc, CEO of Maersk, said that the group’s first ship arrived in Vietnam in 1923. Continuing the tradition of over 100 years, Maersk continues to invest in Vietnam’s maritime transport industry.

Over the years, Maersk has seen great potential and opportunities in Vietnam and wishes to contribute more to the country’s development, especially in investment opportunities to build large, modern deep-sea container ports and strategic logistics projects.

The group’s leaders shared, “Maersk’s projects will support enterprises in Vietnam to facilitate import and export activities, connecting “legs” and industrial zones nationwide.”

In addition, Mr. Vincent Clerc also affirmed a strong commitment to developing green maritime transport and using green energy sources to achieve NET ZERO targets in all group activities by 2020. At the same time, the group promotes digital transformation and automation in the operation of smart seaports.

Maersk, with over 120 years of experience, is present in over 130 countries with more than 100,000 employees. The group provides integrated logistics services and pioneering digital solutions to address challenges in the global supply chain and operates one of the most comprehensive port networks with 62 container terminals.

At the working session, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha said that as a maritime country, Vietnam considers the marine economy as a key sector. The system of seaports is of particular importance in national defense, security, and is located on international maritime routes. In addition, the Vietnamese economy is integrating deeply with the world economy.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that Maersk’s strategy aligns with Vietnam’s choices for green development, NET ZERO, and building large-capacity port and logistics infrastructure and developing a maritime transport fleet. Vietnam prioritizes selecting corporations with experience and innovative development models, such as Maersk, as strategic partners to invest in, build, and operate major ports like Cai Mep, Lach Huyen, and Lien Chieu.

In addition, the Deputy Prime Minister also suggested that the Maersk Group closely cooperate with Vietnamese businesses and partners, proposing solutions to remove difficulties and create favorable conditions for foreign businesses and investors in the fields of maritime transport and logistics, with the spirit of “harmonious interests, shared risks,” and “when investing in Vietnam, it is also a business of Vietnam.”
