On November 16, the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee organized a conference to announce the Politburo’s decision to approve the Nghe An Provincial Party Secretary for the term 2020-2025. The event was attended by Le Minh Hung, Politburo member, Party Central Committee member, and Head of the Organization Committee.
During the conference, Do Trong Hung, Deputy Head of the Organization Committee, announced the Politburo’s Decision No. 1674 dated November 12, 2024, to approve Nguyen Duc Trung, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee of Nghe An, as the Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee for the term 2020-2025, and to assign him to the Party Committee of Military Zone 4 for the same term.

Representing the Politburo, Le Minh Hung handed over the decision, offered congratulations, and assigned tasks to Nguyen Duc Trung, Provincial Party Secretary and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee of Nghe An.
Le Minh Hung, Head of the Organization Committee, congratulated Nguyen Duc Trung and emphasized that this reflects the trust of the Politburo, the Party Central Committee, and the Party Executive Committee in Nguyen Duc Trung’s capabilities. This trust was earned after his over four years of dedication and contributions to Nghe An province. Le Minh Hung expressed his confidence that with his practical experience and strong attachment to the province, Nguyen Duc Trung will excel in his new role.
Nguyen Duc Trung (born 1974 in Tinh Hai, Nghi Son, Thanh Hoa) holds a master’s degree in economics and has a senior level of political theory education.
He was appointed by the Prime Minister as Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment from January 28, 2019. Prior to that, he served as Director of the Organization and Personnel Department, Director of the Local and Territorial Economic Department, and Director of the Infrastructure and Urban Development Department within the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
In February 2020, he was assigned to Nghe An province as Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee. The following month, the Nghe An Provincial People’s Council for the 2016-2021 term elected him as Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee.
On July 4, 2021, Nguyen Duc Trung was elected as Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee of Nghe An for the 2021-2026 term during the first session of the 18th Nghe An Provincial People’s Council.
On November 11, 2024, the 19th Executive Committee of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee elected Nguyen Duc Trung, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, as the Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee for the term 2020-2025.
