The 7-Year Journey of Training IT Human Resources
Human resources are the most crucial factor in driving the development of Vietnam’s IT industry. Understanding this, the founders of CodeGym decided to build a breakthrough programming training model to enhance training effectiveness and quality. The goal is not just to contribute a large number of programmers to the industry but also to elevate the industry’s standards to international levels.
Established in 2017 by a team of experienced programmers, instructors, and software entrepreneurs passionate about IT, CodeGym has since grown to include over 80 instructors.
Today, CodeGym has achieved remarkable milestones, including: 3 offline training centers in major cities across the country (Hanoi, Danang, and Ho Chi Minh City); over 30 programming courses catering to diverse needs and backgrounds; more than 15,000 students who have studied and graduated from CodeGym; partnerships with over 300 training and recruitment organizations nationwide and internationally; and online and hybrid training options for domestic and international students.
However, before reaching this scale of development, CodeGym embarked on a journey of exploration and innovation, starting from a very small beginning. They built systems to manage student information and a Learning Management System (LMS) to manage and distribute learning materials. Due to the unique nature of CodeGym’s model, no off-the-shelf LMS on the market could meet their needs. Fortunately, the company found an open-source LMS (Moodle) that they could customize to their requirements. This reduced their product launch timeline from three months to just three days.
Bizfly Cloud and CodeGym Overcome Challenges to Develop and Optimize the Programmer Training System
Even with the initial implementation, CodeGym was able to meet the necessary requirements to introduce their product to the software market and create value. However, managing the rest of CodeGym’s operations (excluding students) remained a challenge, as shared by the CodeGym representative.
By nature, CodeGym’s solution was unprecedented, and most of the digital systems had to be custom-built and maintained. These systems have been continuously expanded in terms of quantity and features, and as of now, dozens of similar systems have been developed to meet most requirements.
Initially, CodeGym hosted its digital infrastructure on foreign clouds. At that time, there were limited options in Vietnam that could guarantee service quality, stability, cloud features, and cost-effectiveness for the company. One significant issue was geographical location; hosting abroad led to frequent connectivity issues and additional latency for our predominantly domestic user base.
Therefore, we were keen to bring our digital infrastructure back to Vietnam if we could find a suitable local provider. This led to the close partnership between CodeGym and Bizfly Cloud over the past five years.
While global cloud providers offer good quality, they may not be the best fit for everyone. First, the complexity of the model; second, connection latency and potential disconnects; third, limitations in requesting immediate support; and fourth, cost and performance trade-offs.
CodeGym has since migrated its systems to Bizfly Cloud, utilizing two main solutions: Cloud Server and Bizfly CDN, for developing and deploying its programmer training platform.
Adopting Bizfly Cloud has enabled CodeGym’s development team to overcome technical limitations, increasing flexibility and agility in infrastructure development. This has allowed them to respond swiftly to changes, easily restructure, reduce costs, and enhance the security and safety of their systems. As a result, they can focus more on their core business competencies rather than infrastructure management.
“In addition to a diverse range of services, user-friendliness, and powerful performance, Bizfly Cloud also offers exceptional customer support.” – CodeGym
“Moving forward, we plan to explore new markets, expand our product range, enhance service quality, and persist in our digital transformation efforts.”
