The People’s Committee of Tánh Linh District (Bình Thuận Province) has provided an update on the progress of demolishing an illegal mansion in Gia An commune, Tánh Linh District.
Accordingly, the People’s Committee of Tánh Linh District ordered the owner of the illegally-built mansion, Mr. Cao Thanh Sang, to complete the demolition of the violating structure by October 20th. However, beyond this deadline, Mr. Sang only dismantled the top railing of the mansion, leaving most of the structure intact.
In a discussion with local authorities, Mr. Cao Thanh Sang explained that the demolition process was delayed due to the rainy season and the impact of Typhoon Yagi. Additionally, the significant height of the structure requires more time for dismantling, and his family is in the process of finding a specialized unit for demolishing such constructions. As a result, the progress has been slower than expected, and they require more time to complete the task.
Considering these objective challenges, the People’s Committee of Tánh Linh District issued Document No. 2756/UBND-SX on October 31st, granting an extension until May 10th, 2025, for Mr. Cao Thanh Sang, residing in Village 1, Gia An Commune, Tánh Linh District, to address the administrative violations. After this period, if Mr. Sang fails to voluntarily demolish the violating structure, it will be forcibly dismantled according to regulations.
In mid-August, Mr. Phan Dương Cường, Director of the Bình Thuận Province Department of Construction, signed a document requesting the People’s Committee of Tánh Linh District to demolish the structure violating construction regulations.
Consequently, on August 15, 2022, the People’s Committee of Tánh Linh District issued Document No. 1159/UBND-SX, requesting the demolition of the violating structure owned by Mr. Cao Thanh Sang, residing in Village 1, Gia An Commune.
However, upon inspection, the Bình Thuận Province Department of Construction found that the structure had not been dismantled as per the aforementioned document. Instead, it had been completed and put into use, creating a negative impact on public opinion.
Therefore, the Department of Construction has urged the People’s Committee of Tánh Linh District to immediately organize the demolition of Mr. Cao Thanh Sang’s violating structure as per regulations. They have also requested the handling of responsibilities for organizations and individuals involved in these violations. The results of the violation handling must be reported to the Bình Thuận Province Department of Construction before October 30, 2024.
Previously, on March 15, 2022, the People’s Committee of Tánh Linh District issued an administrative violation fine to Mr. Cao Thanh Sang for organizing the construction of a structure without a building permit.
The violating house was built on a plot of several thousand square meters, with construction starting in 2022 but lacking a building permit. Currently, the owner of the violating structure has not only refused to voluntarily dismantle it but has also built a solid perimeter wall and completed the “mansion.”
According to the journalist’s sources, the owner of this “mansion” is a well-known tycoon in the field of mineral exploitation in Bình Thuận.
