In October 2023, Thai Nguyen City inaugurated the Huong Thuong Bridge over the Cau River after about two years of construction.

The Huong Thuong Bridge has a total investment of nearly VND 500 billion, with a length of 380 meters and a width of 23.5 meters, accommodating four lanes of traffic. To date, it is the largest bridge project in Thai Nguyen Province.

Designed as a concrete prestressed cable-stayed bridge, the Huong Thuong Bridge has a lifespan of up to 100 years.

To enhance its aesthetic appeal and incorporate local cultural elements, the bridge features decorative steel columns styled after the iconic green tea buds of Tan Cuong, Thai Nguyen.

The bridge boasts two towers shaped like tea buds, each anchoring 32 cable bundles.

The Huong Thuong Bridge’s railings are made of rust-resistant steel to ensure safety and aesthetics.

Prior to the construction of the Huong Thuong Bridge, the primary means of crossing the river was an old toll suspension bridge located about 30 meters away.

The opening of the Huong Thuong Bridge not only alleviates traffic congestion on other bridges in Thai Nguyen City but also boosts economic development on both sides of the Cau River.

According to the adjusted master plan until 2035, Thai Nguyen City will develop both sides of the Cau River into an eco-friendly, multi-center urban area with various functional zones. Thus, the Huong Thuong Bridge is a crucial infrastructure project for the city’s development in line with the master plan.

Moreover, the bridge has spurred real estate development in the area. Several projects have already emerged along the Huong Thuong Bridge’s shoreline, such as the residential area in Ward 13, Tuc Duyen, and the Thang Long urban area, as seen in the photo.
