Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Duong Duc Tuan has just signed Decision No. 6132/QD-UBND approving the detailed planning scheme for the central space axis of Quang An Peninsula at a ratio of 1/500. The site is located in Quang An and Tu Lien wards, Tay Ho district, Hanoi.

The scheme aims to concretize the Urban Planning of the West Lake and Adjacent Areas (A6) at a ratio of 1/2000 and make local adjustments to the Urban Planning of the A6 area at a ratio of 1/2000 in planning blocks 16, 17, 19 and roads in the area.

According to Tien Phong Newspaper’s reporters, Dam Tri Lake has been fenced off and project signs have been put up.

Bricks and construction materials are still piled up along the small road next to Dam Tri Lake.

The recently approved detailed planning scheme has drawn particular attention to the construction of a large, modern, and iconic opera house for the capital city.

The opera house is planned to be built on Dam Tri Lake, adjacent to Quang Khanh Street, right next to West Lake.

The detailed planning scheme for the central space axis of Quang An Peninsula at a ratio of 1/500 includes Project No. 58 Tay Ho and several other vital roads on the peninsula.

According to the plan proposed by the Tay Ho District People’s Committee for public opinion in July 2022, the opera house in Quang An Peninsula covers an area of approximately 13,000 square meters, featuring an innovative design floating on Dam Tri Lake, and will be constructed with socialized capital.

The opera house is designed by world-renowned Italian architect Renzo Piano. Renzo Piano is the mastermind behind iconic structures such as the Georges Pompidou Center in Paris, France, and The Shard in London, UK.

In the project’s design, the consulting unit shared that Renzo Piano envisioned the architecture of the opera house to resemble the waves on the surface of West Lake. The dome also incorporates a pearl effect, allowing the magical moments of sunrise and sunset on West Lake to be reflected and create a unique beauty.

Interior perspective of the Opera House on Dam Tri Lake

Dam Tri Lake is a small lake with an area of about 6.7 hectares within the West Lake complex. Before 2023, Dam Tri Lake was encroached upon by some local residents who built eateries and cafes. In April 2023, the Tay Ho District People’s Committee carried out forced clearance of land and construction violations in the Dam Tri Lake area in Quang An Ward.

Local authorities shared that, following the conclusion of the Hanoi Department of Natural Resources and Environment’s inspection, relevant agencies reviewed land violations in agricultural land in the area. Since then, no new violations have occurred around Dam Tri Lake.
