On November 28, the My Thuan Project Management Unit under the Ministry of Transport (the investor) announced that the Te-Rach Soi Road Upgrade Project, which broke ground in June this year, has been affected by the rainy season. The contractor can only work on rainless days.
Now that the dry season has started in the Mekong Delta, the investor has instructed the contractors to increase their efforts by deploying more workers, equipment, and work areas. They aim to complete the project by June 30, 2025, three months ahead of the signed contract, without compromising quality.
To meet the accelerated deadline, contractors are utilizing 16 work areas with 140 personnel to recycle the old road surface, lay new asphalt, construct culverts, and expand emergency lanes. As of now, the cumulative construction output has reached approximately VND 52.3 billion, equivalent to 9.5% of the contract value.
The investor also requires the contractors to regularly patrol and inspect the road for any damages, ensuring traffic safety along the route, according to the leader of the My Thuan Project Management Unit.
The Te-Rach Soi Road Upgrade Project has a total investment of VND 750 billion from the central budget, with the Ministry of Transport as the investor. The project started in June and is expected to be completed by June 2025.
Previously, the first phase of the Te-Rach Soi Road, with a total length of 51km and an investment of over VND 6,300 billion, was completed and opened to traffic in January 2021. However, after less than three years of use, the road deteriorated severely, necessitating this upgrade.
The road starts at the Vam Cong Bridge intersection and the National Highway 91 bypass (in Vinh Thanh district, Can Tho city) and ends at the Rach Gia bypass (Kien Giang province).
