Vietnam’s tourism industry has witnessed impressive growth in the first months of 2024. According to the General Statistics Office, favorable visa policies, enhanced promotion and international recognition have attracted a growing number of international visitors to the country.

In the first ten months of 2024, Vietnam welcomed over 14.1 million international arrivals, reflecting a 41.3% increase compared to the same period last year. Asia led the way with 11,256.8 thousand visitors, followed by Europe with 1,576.4 thousand, the Americas with 812.8 thousand, Australia with 436.3 thousand, and Africa with 42.8 thousand. The international tourism market still holds strong potential for growth.

To achieve the target of attracting 17-18 million international visitors and serving 110 million domestic tourists in 2024, local authorities and businesses have introduced new products and solutions to boost tourism demand in the remaining months of the year.

Hanoi, aiming to receive 26.5 million tourists, including 5 million international visitors, has launched a series of cultural and sporting events such as the 2024 Hanoi Tourism Gift Festival. The city is also developing agricultural tourism models in suburban areas to offer diverse experiences to travelers.

Ho Chi Minh City is continuously upgrading its infrastructure and implementing smart tourism projects, including building a tourism service database and promoting destination marketing. The city focuses on developing night tourism and community-based tourism, especially in the island commune of Thanh An, Can Gio, by showcasing its unique natural and cultural values.

Other regions, such as the Mekong Delta, are embracing green transformation in tourism with new eco-friendly models. These include community-based tours, traditional craft village tours, and excursions to flower villages and ancient houses, attracting visitors from far and wide.

Nghe An province has initiated multiple demand stimulation plans for the fall and winter seasons, featuring cultural and culinary events, festive tours, and local history and culture exploration. Meanwhile, Ba Ria-Vung Tau province has launched a tourism stimulus program with special offers to attract travelers to local destinations and engage them in cultural, sports, and MICE tourism activities.

In tandem, industry businesses are offering attractive tourism stimulus packages, including discounts on accommodation, air tickets, and special tour packages. For instance, Traveloka, a leading travel booking platform in Southeast Asia, introduced a “Black Friday” promotion from November 25 to December 1, offering discounts of up to 30%, along with a “Buy 1 Get 1” deal and daily voucher codes.

All these efforts, from organizing events to enhancing service quality and tourism infrastructure, are geared towards the shared goal of fostering the development of Vietnam’s tourism industry, meeting the evolving needs of travelers, and driving economic growth.
