Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Vietnam-China International Trade and Tourism Fair (Lang Son 2024) on the evening of December 2, Mr. Duong Xuan Huyen, Vice Chairman of the Lang Son Provincial People’s Committee, said that with its prominent advantages in geographical location, convenient and modern international border gates, and transportation conditions that are being and will continue to be improved, Lang Son is increasingly affirming its position and role as the most important gateway for connecting Vietnam, ASEAN countries, and the Chinese market.

According to estimates, the import and export turnover of all forms through the border gates in Lang Son province in 2024 reached about 66.4 billion USD, an increase of 27.6% compared to the previous year, accounting for a considerable proportion of the total import and export turnover between Vietnam and China.

Mr. Duong Xuan Huyen affirmed: “Events such as the Vietnam-China International Trade and Tourism Fair (Lang Son 2024) serve as a bridge for enterprises from both sides to continue strengthening cooperation, promoting trade, and linking to expand the consumption market for goods, promote destinations, and boost tourism development between Lang Son province and localities across the country with Guangxi. This contributes to enhancing the cooperative and friendly relationship between Lang Son and Guangxi, in particular, and between Vietnam and China, in general, in the fields of trade, tourism, and people-to-people exchange.”

Sharing the same view, Mr. Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, said that the fair is an effort to strengthen trade promotion activities, creating opportunities for cooperation and development for Vietnamese and Chinese enterprises.

On the Chinese side, Mr. Trau Trien Nghiep, Director of the Office for Reform and Development of the Autonomous Region of Ethnic Choang, Guangxi, China, said that the fair would deploy a series of economic, trade, and tourism exchange activities, strengthening the building of a bridge for cooperation between Vietnamese and Chinese enterprises, and realizing mutual development.

The Vietnam-China International Trade and Tourism Fair (Lang Son 2024) was organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in collaboration with the Lang Son Provincial People’s Committee, with the theme “Linkage – Cooperation – Development.” It is part of the National Trade Promotion Program for 2024 and the Lang Son Trade and Tourism Promotion Program for 2024.

The event gathered 200 domestic and foreign enterprises to display and introduce new and characteristic products and services. With 240 booths, the fair introduced consumers and visitors to products and services in various fields such as agriculture, industry, forestry, processing-manufacturing, electronics, means of transport, and services such as logistics, finance, and tourism. The products and services introduced at the fair have potential for export or serve commercial activities.

In addition, within the framework of the fair, the Lang Son Provincial People’s Committee also coordinated with ministries and sectors to organize international forums and conferences, thereby promoting cooperation not only in Lang Son but also in other localities in the country with China.
