According to information from the Ministry of Public Security, on December 3, Major General Nguyen Ngoc Van – Commander of the Mobile Police and Colonel Nguyen Hong Nguyen – Deputy Chief of the Office of the Ministry of Public Security, co-chaired a conference to review and deploy the plan for the construction of Gia Binh Airport (Bac Ninh province). The event was also attended by leaders of functional units of the Ministry of Public Security and Bac Ninh Provincial Police.

To gradually realize the planning, on September 17, the Government approved the investment policy for the project to build Gia Binh Airport in Bac Ninh province, with an immediate scale of a dedicated airport equivalent to level 3C.

The project is carried out to enable the People’s Public Security Air Force to perform training and combat-ready missions on equipped helicopters; it can also accommodate take-off and landing for Chinook CH-47D, Mi-8, Mi-171 helicopters, and Casa-295 transport aircraft.

When conditions permit, Gia Binh Airport can become a backup airport for regional airports and ports in emergency situations. It will be capable of receiving Su-27, Su-30, Embraer, and ATR72 aircraft and their equivalents.

Colonel Nguyen Hong Nguyen agreed on the contents, and the delegates focused their discussions on providing opinions for implementation in the following period.

The orientation for the planning and investment of Gia Binh Airport for the People’s Public Security Air Force is to model a national defense and security airport, a dedicated airport equivalent to level 4E.

Accordingly, it will ensure the operation of special flights serving the leaders of the Party, State, and international dignitaries on large fixed-wing aircraft; cargo and passenger transportation when requested and conditions are met.

At the conference, the delegates discussed the results of the tasks assigned in Plan No. 553/KH-BCA-K02 dated November 27, 2024, of the Ministry of Public Security. They also discussed and agreed on the contents, coordination plan, and deployment of tasks in the next period to serve the project’s inauguration ceremony, ensuring progress, solemnity, and safety.
