Sacombank has announced a list of five shareholders, including one individual and four organizations. These shareholders own a total of nearly 268 million shares, equivalent to 14.2% of the bank’s charter capital.

Of the five reported shareholders, only one individual, Mr. Duong Cong Minh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sacombank, is listed. Mr. Minh reported owning nearly 62.6 million Sacombank shares, equivalent to 3.32% of the bank’s shares.

A relative of Mr. Minh holds nearly 11.9 million shares, or 0.63% of Sacombank’s capital. According to Sacombank’s six-month management report for the first half of 2024, these shares are owned by Mr. Minh’s sister, Ms. Duong Thi Liem.

Thus, the total number of shares held by the Chairman of Sacombank and related persons is nearly 74.5 million, equivalent to 3.95% of the bank’s charter capital.

Among the five institutional shareholders, Pyn Elite Fund, a foreign fund from Finland, is the largest shareholder of Sacombank, holding over 125.9 million shares, equivalent to 6.68% of the bank’s charter capital. This is also the largest investment of this foreign fund, accounting for 20.2% of its portfolio value.

In addition, the list of shareholders owning more than 1% of Sacombank’s capital also includes the Chinese foreign fund Tianhong Vietnam Thematic Fund (QDII), with 32.25 million shares or 1.71% of the capital. It is known that Tianhong Vietnam Thematic Fund (QDII) is managed by Tianhong Asset Management, a fund management company from China.

Tianhong Asset Management was established on January 8, 2004, with a registered capital of 514.3 million CNY and operates as a mutual fund. Tianhong Asset Management was the first fund management company in China to have total assets under management exceeding CNY 1,000 billion (USD 142 billion). As of December 31, 2023, Ant Financial, owned by billionaire Jack Ma, was the largest shareholder of Tianhong Asset Management, holding 51% of its capital.

Another foreign fund holding a large number of Sacombank shares is SCB Vietnam Alpha Fund Not For Retail Investors, with more than 25.5 million units, equivalent to 1.36% of the charter capital. This is a foreign fund belonging to Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) of Thailand.

The list of shareholders owning more than 1% of Sacombank also includes another foreign fund, Norges Bank (under Dragon Capital), with 21.4 million shares or 1.13% of Sacombank’s capital.
