On December 6th, the Dong Nai Province’s Forest Ranger Department handed over the entire case file regarding the illegal land reclamation of protected forest land for the construction of the province’s largest port, Phuoc An, to the Nhon Trach District Police for investigation.

Prior to this, authorities discovered approximately 4,000 square meters of protected forest land (mangrove forest) managed by the Long Thanh Forest Protection Management Board had been reclaimed. This area falls outside the boundaries of the project as approved by the provincial People’s Committee for the investor.

Phuoc An Port

The Nhon Trach – Long Thanh mangrove forest covers an area of nearly 8,000 hectares and has long been considered the green lung of the Southeast region, known for its pristine beauty and rich biodiversity.

According to the plan, the Phuoc An Port project is divided into port and logistics service sub-areas. The port sub-area spans 183 hectares, with a total berth length of 3,050 meters, including six container berths and four general berths capable of accommodating vessels with a deadweight tonnage of 60,000 DWT.

Meanwhile, the port logistics service area has been approved by the government to be converted into the Phuoc An Port Logistics Service Industrial Park, covering an area of over 550 hectares.

The Phuoc An Port Logistics Service Industrial Park is designed to provide a range of services, including cargo storage, barge berths, and rail transshipment stations, to facilitate transportation, logistics, and economic development in the region, connecting the Phuoc An Port to nearby industrial parks and the key economic zone in the South.
