On December 8, Vingroup Corporation, in collaboration with the People’s Committee of Ha Tinh province, inaugurated the construction of an electric car manufacturing plant in Vung Ang Economic Zone, Ky Anh town. This is VinFast’s second electric vehicle factory in Vietnam.

According to the plan, the VinFast electric car manufacturing plant in Vung Ang Economic Zone will be built on an area of more than 36 hectares, invested by Vinhomes Ha Tinh Industrial Park Joint Stock Company, and leased long-term to VinFast. The project has a designed capacity of 300,000 vehicles/year in phase 1 and can be increased to 600,000 vehicles/year. The project is expected to create up to 15,000 jobs in the following phases.

The factory is expected to be inaugurated in July 2025. The VinFast electric car manufacturing plant in Ha Tinh will focus on producing two vehicle lines, VF 3 and VF 5, with main components such as frames, engines, and electronic components imported from the Haiphong plant. In addition, batteries will be partially supplied by the battery factory in Vung Ang Economic Zone.
According to VinFast, the products from the Ha Tinh electric car factory will be supplied to the domestic market and exported to international markets.
At the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Viet Quang, Vice Chairman and CEO of Vingroup, said that VinFast has officially become the number one car brand in the Vietnamese market, with an increasing number of orders and growing trust and support from customers. Moreover, the demand in international markets is growing rapidly, so building an additional electric car factory in Ha Tinh will create a solid foundation for an important and explosive development phase of VinFast.
Vingroup believes that with the support and facilitation of the local government and people, the VinFast electric car manufacturing plant will soon be completed and put into operation as scheduled.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha said that the Government and the Prime Minister highly appreciate and commend Vingroup for its pioneering role in realizing a green future with the mission of ‘For a better life for everyone’, creating an ecosystem of world-class products and services, contributing to improving the quality of life of mankind and enhancing the position of Vietnamese brands in the international arena.
Based on sharing VinFast’s vision, mission, and the aspirations of manufacturers in the value chain of the Vietnamese automotive industry, the Government, the Prime Minister, and the central ministries and branches will continue to create favorable conditions for national enterprises such as Vingroup to realize their mission, vision, and aspirations, and develop together with the country.
The VinFast Ha Tinh factory is the fifth factory serving VinFast’s electric vehicle production globally. Currently, in addition to the operating complex in Haiphong, VinFast is constructing three other factories in India, Indonesia, and the United States. The factories in India and Indonesia are expected to be operational in 2025.
