Today’s exchange rate on December 9th, between the Vietnamese Dong (VND) and the US Dollar (USD), as well as the Chinese Yuan, witnessed a downward trend.
Specifically, the State Bank of Vietnam set the daily reference exchange rate at 24,248 VND per USD, a decrease of 7 VND from the previous day’s rate on December 6th.
With a permitted variation of +/- 5%, the ceiling and floor rates for the day are 25,460 VND/USD and 23,036 VND/USD, respectively. The buying and selling rates at the State Bank of Vietnam are currently quoted at 23,400-25,450 VND/USD.
As of 8:29 am, Vietcombank listed the USD exchange rate at 25,157-25,460 VND/USD (buying-selling), a decrease of 7 VND in both buying and selling rates compared to the previous day’s rates on December 6th.
Following a similar trend, BIDV this morning quoted the USD exchange rate at 25,165-25,460 VND/USD (buying-selling), a decrease of 5 VND in the buying rate and 7 VND in the selling rate.
Similarly, for the Chinese Yuan, Vietcombank set the exchange rate at 3,438-3,548 VND/CNY (buying-selling), a decrease of 5 VND in both buying and selling rates compared to the previous week’s rates.
At BIDV, the Chinese Yuan also witnessed a decrease of 6 VND, with the buying and selling rates quoted at 3,448-3,545 VND/CNY./.

Securities KIS: Forex Pressure to Ease in Coming Months
According to KIS Securities, in December and the first quarter of 2025, the exchange rate will cool down and no longer put too much pressure on the economy and the stock market. This is due to the loose monetary policies of major central banks around the world, such as the FED and ECB, low foreign exchange demand, and trade surplus.
The Greenback Slides as Dollar Index Hits a Two-Week Low
The central exchange rate fell by 44 dong during the November 28-29 sessions. The selling price of USD at commercial banks decreased accordingly and remained pegged to the ceiling set by the State Bank. Meanwhile, the black-market exchange rate remained stagnant.
