In November, TC Group announced that the Hyundai brand sold 9,224 units (excluding commercial vehicles), while Toyota sold 8,695 units. This is the third time this year that Hyundai’s monthly sales have surpassed Toyota’s.

Hyundai’s vehicle sales surged in November.

Hyundai had a better start to 2024, outselling Toyota in January and February. However, in the following months, Toyota consistently overtook Hyundai, pulling ahead by thousands of units.

Specifically, in November 2024, Hyundai had three models in the top 10 best-selling cars of the month. The Accent ranked 6th with 2,052 units sold, followed by the Tucson in 8th place with 1,584 units, and the Creta in 10th place with 1,330 units.

Hyundai was the brand with the most models in the best-selling cars list for November 2024.

In addition to the above-mentioned models, other Hyundai vehicles also demonstrated impressive performance. For instance, the Hyundai Grand i10 sold 1,035 units, a 40.8% increase from the previous month, solidifying its leadership in the A-segment. The Hyundai Santa Fe also witnessed a 10.8% growth in sales compared to October, with 1,206 units delivered.

The updated models have indeed created a strong appeal.

On the other hand, Toyota had only the Vios in the best-selling list with 2,137 units sold. Moreover, their highly anticipated B-segment SUV, the Yaris Cross, showed signs of declining sales, with 1,188 units sold, dropping two positions from second to fourth place in its segment.

Although Hyundai outsold Toyota in November, when considering cumulative sales, Hyundai still lags far behind its Japanese competitor. Specifically, the Korean brand sold 49,385 units, while Toyota’s cumulative sales reached 57,934 units.

With the current gap, it will be challenging for Hyundai to retain the title of “Most Favorite Car Brand of the Year.” Moreover, despite not regularly updating sales reports like VAMA or TC Group, the leading automotive brand in terms of sales in the country is VinFast. According to the electric vehicle manufacturer, they have delivered over 67,000 vehicles to customers from the beginning of the year to November.
