Kien Giang Provincial Investigation Police Agency executes an arrest warrant for Ngo Ngoc Thao

Previously, in September 2023, N.T.N.B (born 1978) entered into a contract to purchase sugar from Ngo Ngoc Thao. B invested money in Thao’s business, expecting to receive sugar for resale to retail outlets. The partnership initially went well. However, on November 28, 2023, when a large sum of money exchanged hands, Thao hatched a plan to appropriate the funds. Thao lied to B, claiming that the sugar shipment had been seized by the police during transportation. Thao then fled, absconding with over VND 1.8 billion of B’s money.

Following a criminal complaint filed by N.T.N.B, the Provincial Investigation Police proactively verified the information, tracked down Thao, and located her hiding in An Phu Ward, Thuan An City, Binh Duong Province. The authorities collaborated with local government officials to apprehend Thao. During the initial investigation, Thao confessed to squandering the entirety of B’s embezzled money for personal use.

The case is under further investigation, and legal proceedings will follow.
