With Christmas just around the corner, many residents of Hanoi are eagerly searching for trees to decorate their homes, such as fresh pine and fir trees.

“For this Christmas season, my store has imported additional types of trees, including aromatic cedar, Japanese cedar, balsam fir, and pine trees,” said Ms. Nhung, owner of a shop on Hoang Hoa Tham Street. “Among these varieties, the Japanese cedar has been the most popular.”

According to Ms. Nhung, the Japanese cedar is sought after for its hardiness and longer lifespan compared to other types of cedars. The price of the Japanese cedar ranges from 100,000 to 600,000 VND per unadorned tree, depending on its size. The aromatic cedar, on the other hand, costs between 80,000 and 500,000 VND per tree.

Ms. Nhung shared that most customers prefer to buy the trees and decorate them themselves. However, for those who are too busy, her shop offers pre-decorated trees for an additional 100,000 to 300,000 VND.

In addition to fresh fir trees, mini pine trees have also been a popular choice this Christmas season. Known for their compact size and ease of decoration, mini pine trees are highly sought after. The price of each unadorned mini pine tree ranges from 200,000 to 700,000 VND.

A shop owner shared that fresh fir and mini pine trees are also popular choices for gifts among family and friends during the Christmas season.

Mr. Hung, a trader selling ornamental plants on Hoang Hoa Tham Street, noted a 20% increase in customers buying mini pine and fresh fir trees compared to the previous week. His shop sells approximately 40 trees of various types each day, both directly and online.

“As Christmas approaches, my friend and I came here to buy a tree to decorate our room,” shared Minh Huyen from Dong Da district. “Due to limited space, I opted for the Japanese cedar, which fits perfectly and is reasonably priced.”
