The Ho Chi Minh City Public Transport Management Center has officially approved the train schedule for the Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien), operated by the Urban Railway One-Member Co. Ltd.

According to the schedule, on the first day (December 22), the metro line will operate with 140 train trips. From December 23, the number of trips will increase to 200, including 100 trips in each direction. The first trip will depart at 5 am, and the last trip will depart at 10 pm.

Metro Line 1 will utilize a total of nine trains, each consisting of three carriages with a length of 61.9 meters and a maximum capacity of 930 passengers (147 seated and 783 standing). The total operating distance of the line is 18.821 km. The trains will stop at each station for 6 minutes and 30 seconds. The longest distance between stations is between Cong Nghe Cao and Thu Duc (2.38 km), while the shortest is between Van Thanh and Tan Cang (0.918 km).

The train frequency is designed to be flexible, with trains arriving every 8 minutes during peak hours and every 12 minutes during off-peak hours. The full line cycle is 72 minutes, with a turnaround time of 7 minutes at the terminus stations.

To ensure safe and efficient operations, the Public Transport Management Center has requested that all relevant units strictly adhere to labor protection, occupational safety, and fire prevention and control regulations. The maintenance staff has been tasked with thoroughly inspecting the infrastructure, vehicles, and equipment and promptly addressing any issues that arise.

The operating units are required to be proficient in the use of equipment and signal handling. A standby train will always be available at the depot to respond to any incidents as directed by the OCC Control Center.

No Need to Rush

According to the representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board, the Metro Line 1 will be free of charge for the first 30 days of operation. To avoid congestion at the stations and ensure a pleasant experience, the Management Board recommends that residents choose less busy times to use the service.

With 200 trips per day and a frequency of 5 to 10 minutes per trip, residents are advised that there is no need to rush and they can take their time to enjoy the experience. Residents are also advised to maintain order, avoid crowding and pushing, and give way to people with disabilities, the elderly, and children.
