The People’s Committee of Tay Ninh province has submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Transport regarding the feasibility study for the construction of Tay Ninh Airport for the period 2021-2030, with a vision towards 2050. The proposed location for Tay Ninh Airport is in Phuoc Ninh commune, Duong Minh Chau district, Tay Ninh province.

In a straight line, Tay Ninh Airport is approximately 74km from Tan Son Nhat Airport, 106km from Long Thanh Airport, 44km from the Cambodian border, 24km from Tay Ninh city, 15km from the national tourist area of Nui Ba Den, and 68km from Lo Go-Xa Mat National Park.

The proposal also highlights that the area is completely flat and uninhabited, making it ideal for compensation, clearance, and resettlement without impacting any residential areas or existing structures.

Tay Ninh Airport is designed to meet the standards of a 4E-class airport as per the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) guidelines, with a capacity to handle 1 million passengers annually and 400 passengers during peak hours.

The airport will feature a 3,200-meter-long and 45-meter-wide runway, oriented in a northeast-southwest direction, and six aircraft parking positions. It will be capable of accommodating code E aircraft (such as Boeing 777-300ER or Airbus A350-900 and their equivalents) and code C aircraft (such as Airbus A320 or A321 and their equivalents).

Tay Ninh Airport is designated as a civil airport with a dual civilian-military purpose and will serve as a domestic airport with international flight routes.

The planned area for the airport covers 420 hectares, with additional land reserved for future expansion. The construction of Tay Ninh Airport is expected to take place between 2026 and 2030.

The preliminary total investment for the first phase of Tay Ninh Airport is estimated at approximately VND 4,738 billion, catering to 1 million passengers annually and 400 passengers during peak hours.

The investment capital for the airport project is expected to come from the state budget (both central and local) for compensation, clearance, resettlement support, and infrastructure development, amounting to VND 711 billion (15% of the total project investment).

The Tay Ninh Airport project is expected to be implemented between 2026 and 2030.

The remaining VND 4,026 billion (85% of the total project investment) will come from investors through a PPP model, with an expected payback period of 42 years.

To proceed with the next steps, the People’s Committee of Tay Ninh province requests the Ministry of Transport to review and provide an appraisal to finalize the dossier for submission to the Prime Minister for approval to include Tay Ninh Airport in the master plan for the national airport and airfield system for the period 2021-2030, with a vision towards 2050.

Once the planning is approved, the People’s Committee of Tay Ninh province will officially call for investment from domestic and foreign investors for the Tay Ninh Airport project through the PPP model.
