According to the People’s Committee of Sam Son City at the Conference on Tourism Work Summary in 2024 and Deployment of Tasks for Tourism Development in 2025, Sam Son welcomed 8.86 million visitors in 2024, equivalent to 109.3% compared to the same period and 104.3% compared to the plan. The city served 17.27 million visitor-days, equivalent to 109.6% compared to the same period and 104.7% compared to the plan.
Total tourism revenue in Sam Son, the smallest city in Vietnam in terms of area, reached VND 17,100 billion, equivalent to 140.6% compared to the same period and 108.8% compared to the plan. This success can be attributed to the diverse range of cultural, sports, tourism, and festival events organized in the area.
For 2025, Sam Son City aims to attract 9.68 million visitors and serve 19.9 million visitor-days, with an estimated tourism revenue of VND 21,000 billion. According to Mr. Nguyen Van Thi, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee and Head of the Provincial Tourism Development Steering Committee, to build on the achievements of Sam Son’s tourism and overcome existing limitations, it is crucial to contribute significantly to the province’s tourism sector, targeting 16 million visitors and VND 45,500 billion in tourism revenue in 2025.
To achieve these goals, the People’s Committee of Sam Son City should continue to enhance the effectiveness of their leadership, governance, and state management in the tourism sector, particularly in areas such as pricing and transportation service businesses. Additionally, they should focus on tourism promotion and advertising, emphasizing digital platforms and smart tourism applications to support virtual reality experiences and provide navigation and information search on google maps for tourists. Exploring and enhancing night-time economic services, such as night markets and pedestrian streets, can attract high-spending visitors who tend to stay longer, ultimately distributing the tourist flow both spatially and temporally.
