On December 24, at the conference to review tax work in 2024 and deploy tasks for 2025, the leadership of the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department reported that with all efforts in management and budget collection, in 2024, the city’s tax sector is estimated to collect VND373,572 billion, up 14.1% compared to 2023 and reaching 106.2% of the year plan. Of this, tax revenue from production and business activities is estimated at VND216,438 billion, up 9% compared to the previous year.

One of the highlights of the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department in 2024 was supporting e-commerce platform owners in providing information of organizations and individuals in business; strengthening tax management in the field of content creation on online platforms, and individuals selling goods through livestream on social media… As a result, the department reviewed 4,119 enterprises, households, and individuals in e-commerce, subsequently handling, collecting, and fining a total of VND256.4 billion.
At the conference, Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, evaluated that the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department had excellently completed its assigned tasks, contributing to the city’s completion of the 2024 budget collection task. By December 31, the total budget revenue is expected to exceed VND500,000 billion – marking the first time this figure has been achieved, with a significant contribution from the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Dung, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, in 2025, the city is assigned by the Central Government to collect a budget revenue of over VND506,000 billion. Accordingly, the tax sector needs to strive to collect VND389,000 billion to contribute to the city’s completion of the task. “The Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department needs to have effective collection measures, prevent losses from the fields of digital platforms, transfer pricing, e-commerce…; streamline the apparatus for efficiency, be active in combating wastefulness and corruption, and reform administrative procedures to facilitate taxpayers,” said Mr. Dung.
