This special energy project is invested by EVNNPT, with SPMB in charge of project management, and the 4th Power Transmission Company operating it, according to Baochinhphu.vn.
The 500kV transmission line (2 circuits) starts at the 500kV distribution yard pole of the Nhon Trach 4 Power Plant and ends by connecting to the conductors between towers 74 and 75 of the existing 500kV Phu My- Nha Be transmission line.
The project is the only transmission line that helps evacuate power and connects the Nhon Trach 4 Power Plant (with a capacity of over 800MW) to the National Power System. Once the thermal power plants are operational, they will contribute to energy security and increase local budget revenues. The project’s completion will help ensure power supply in the southern provinces from 2025.
The Nhon Trach 3 and 4 Power Plants, invested by the Vietnam Oil and Gas Power Corporation, have a total investment of $1.4 billion. The total capacity of the two plants is 1,624MW. After completion, the plants can provide 9-12 billion kWh of electricity per year. This is the first thermal power project in Vietnam to use liquefied natural gas (LNG) as fuel.
Previously, to ensure experimental power supply and capacity evacuation for the Nhon Trach 3 and 4 Power Plants, EVNNPT reported to the competent authorities for the implementation of the 220kV connection line project from Nhon Trach 3 Power Plant to Nhon Trach 1,2 – Bau Sen, belonging to the 220kV Nhon Trach 3 Power Plant – Long Thanh 500kV transformer station. On May 15, 2024, the project was energized to ensure reverse power reception and grid connection for the experimental power generation of the Nhon Trach 3 Power Plant.
