## Government Inspectorate: Combating Corruption and Ensuring Stability
Referring 173 subjects to investigative agencies for handling
On the morning of December 28, at the online conference to review the work of the Government Inspectorate in 2024 and deploy tasks for 2025, Inspector General of the Government Inspectorate, Doan Hong Phong, stated that 2024 was a year of significant workload, especially with unexpected tasks assigned by the Central Steering Committee for Corruption, Wastefulness, and Negative Behavior Prevention and Control; the Government, the Prime Minister, and heads of administrative agencies at all levels.
Under the leadership of the Central Party Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, the National Assembly, the Government, and the Prime Minister, along with the efforts of all sectors, the Government Inspectorate, and the inspectorate sector, they overcame challenges to excellently fulfill their assigned tasks, achieving remarkable results.
These outcomes have contributed to corruption prevention, social order and safety stability, and the country’s economic development.

Presenting the draft report on the 2024 work review and key tasks for 2025, Deputy Inspector General of the Government Inspectorate, Duong Quoc Huy, said that the Government Inspectorate and inspectorates of ministries, sectors, and localities focused on inspecting state management in sectors and fields prone to corruption, negative behavior, and public grievances and attracting social attention.
The inspectorate sector also proactively followed up, urged, and inspected the implementation of inspection conclusions to handle collectives and individuals with violations promptly and lawfully; recover lost and appropriated assets; improve state management; and perfect policies and laws in the inspected fields.
According to the consolidated data, the sector conducted 6,673 administrative inspections and 118,983 specialized inspections and examinations. Through these inspections, management was improved, and mechanisms, policies, and laws were perfected in many fields. Economic violations worth VND 157,585 billion and 245 hectares of land were detected, and recommendations were made to handle 2,360 collectives and 9,017 individuals.
Additionally, the inspectorate sector referred 269 cases with 173 subjects to investigative agencies for handling.
Disciplining 10 individuals related to income and asset declaration
According to Deputy Inspector General Duong Quoc Huy, the work of receiving citizens and resolving complaints and denunciations has made essential contributions to strengthening people’s trust in the Party and the State, ensuring political stability, and maintaining security and social order. It also served significant political, cultural, and socio-economic development events.
The rate of resolving complaints and denunciations within the authority reached 85.4%, higher than the Government’s target of 85%, especially with a resolution rate of 88.5% for denunciations.
State administrative agencies at all levels resolved 25,823 out of 30,238 complaints and denunciations within their authority. They recommended the recovery of nearly VND 34 billion and more than 19 hectares of land for the State and the return of over VND 106 billion and 1.5 hectares of land to organizations and individuals. The rights and interests of 26 organizations and 2,235 individuals were restored, and the handling of 543 individuals was recommended. Seventeen cases involving 21 subjects were transferred to investigative agencies for handling.

Regarding the work of corruption, negative behavior prevention, and control, according to Mr. Duong Quoc Huy, the sector continued to focus on effectively implementing tasks under the direction of the Central Committee, the Government, and the Prime Minister. In terms of implementing rules of conduct and professional ethics codes, ministries, sectors, and localities inspected 4,653 agencies, organizations, and units, promptly detected and handled violations, and disciplined 164 officials, public employees, and civil servants.
The sectors and localities also conducted position rotation for 18,635 officials, public employees, and civil servants to prevent corruption.
Notably, in 2024, agencies verified the income and asset declarations of 6,775 individuals. As a result, 10 individuals were disciplined for making false income and asset declarations. In addition, 46 cases of irresponsibility leading to corruption were concluded, and 52 individuals were disciplined.
Furthermore, agencies detected 61 cases involving 107 individuals related to corruption (including 11 cases with 19 individuals detected through internal inspection; 36 cases with 69 individuals detected through inspection and examination; and 14 cases with 19 individuals related to corruption detected through complaint and denunciation resolution).
