Electric buses are coming to Hanoi! According to a recent announcement by Bao Yen Group on their fanpage, a brand new fleet of electric buses has arrived at their headquarters in Dong Anh, Hanoi. The company is also recruiting drivers and onboard staff to operate these innovative vehicles.

Bao Yen Group is currently seeking 20 bus drivers with E-class licenses and 20 onboard staff members. The plan is to have these electric buses in operation by February 2025, with the potential to replace all traditional fuel-powered buses on the company’s Route 59 (Dong Anh – Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences).

Social media has been abuzz with images of these new electric buses, along with charging stations being installed. The bus model in question is the VinFast-produced Green Bus 8, which was previously spotted at the VinFast factory in Haiphong in December 2024.

The Green Bus 8 is an 8.6-meter-long electric bus, and VinFast is also developing two additional variants with lengths of 12 and 15 meters, respectively.

Designed with a low floor and two side doors, these buses optimize passenger flow. Inside, there are 24 seats, in addition to a space for wheelchair users, which is equipped with foldable seats on the VinFast Green buses currently in operation.

The driver’s seat is positioned high, with a door and an interior handle for opening and closing. As an electric bus, it features only two pedals for acceleration and braking, eliminating the need for a traditional multi-gear transmission.
