A-Segment Cars
The best-selling A-segment car of 2024 is undoubtedly the Hyundai Grand i10, with sales figures reaching 5,080 units as of November. Its closest competitors, the Toyota Wigo and Kia Morning, trail behind with 2,407 and 732 units sold, respectively.
The Hyundai Grand i10 has consistently topped the sales charts for 11 months in 2024, except for a brief period in April when it slipped to second place due to a transition between the old and new models. If it maintains its lead, the Grand i10 will secure the title of the best-selling A-segment car for the third consecutive year.
B-Segment Sedans
The B-segment sedan category is a close contest between the Toyota Vios and the Hyundai Accent. As of now, the Japanese sedan has a slight edge with 12,706 units sold, closely followed by the Accent at 11,677 units.
With a gap of only 1,029 units, the outcome of this race is still uncertain. For the Accent to overtake the Vios, it needs to sell at least 3,167 more units before the end of the year.
Whichever model comes out on top in this segment will also take the crown for the best-selling sedan overall.
C-Segment Sedans, D-Segment Sedans, Pickup Trucks, MPVs, and C-Segment SUVs
These segments have clear leaders, with little competition from their respective rivals.
In the C-segment sedan category, the Mazda3 is comfortably ahead with 4,741 units sold, followed by the Kia K3 at 3,493 units. With average monthly sales across the segment ranging from 300 to 600 units, it seems unlikely that the K3 will be able to close the gap.
The D-segment sedan category is dominated by the Toyota Camry, which has sold 1,061 units so far this year. Its closest competitor, the Mazda6, has only managed to sell 558 units during the same period.
In the MPV segment, the Mitsubishi Xpander is the only model to surpass 10,000 units in sales as of November 2024, with a total of 17,509 units sold.
Similarly, the Ford Ranger has a significant lead in the pickup truck segment, with 15,904 units sold. Its competitors, the Mitsubishi Triton, Toyota Hilux, and Isuzu D-Max, have sold 2,347, 2,029, and 490 units, respectively.
The Mazda CX-5 continues to dominate the C-segment SUV category, despite efforts from competitors like the Hyundai Tucson and Ford Territory. As of November 2024, the CX-5 has sold an impressive 13,656 units.
A-Segment SUVs
The VinFast VF 5 is set to be crowned the king of the A-segment SUV category for 2024, with estimated sales figures reaching 20,400 units. This all-electric SUV is also a strong contender for the overall best-selling vehicle of the year.
Its success would mark a significant milestone for the Vietnamese automotive industry, as it would be the first time an electric vehicle claims the top spot.
B-Segment SUVs
The B-segment SUV category is the most competitive in the Vietnamese market. The Mitsubishi Xforce currently leads with 13,267 units sold, followed by the Toyota Yaris Cross at 9,596 units. The Hyundai Creta, which was the best-selling model in this segment in 2023, has sold 7,739 units so far this year and sits in third place.
7-Seater SUVs
Despite a strong performance from the newly updated Hyundai Santa Fe, the Ford Everest maintains its lead in the 7-seater SUV category. As of November 2024, the Everest has sold 9,892 units, compared to 6,112 units for the Santa Fe.
