Toyota Vietnam has quietly discontinued the standard version of the Toyota Wigo, as it is no longer featured on their official website. Only the G variant of this A-segment car remains visible on the site.
Toyota Vietnam has not released any official statement regarding the discontinuation of the manual transmission version of the Wigo. According to some dealership consultants, the E variant has not been imported to Vietnam for quite some time.
The silent disappearance of the manual transmission Wigo is reminiscent of Toyota’s quiet discontinuation of the Rush and Yaris models in the Vietnamese market. Both vehicles were removed from the brand’s product catalog without any announced reason.
With the removal of the manual transmission option, the Toyota Wigo no longer has a starting price below 400 million VND, unlike its Korean competitors in the same segment, the Hyundai Grand i10 and Kia Morning. The higher starting price, coupled with fewer available variants, may put the Wigo at a disadvantage when competing with these rival brands.
Currently, the Hyundai Grand i10 offers 6 variants in Vietnam, with prices ranging from 360 to 455 million VND. Meanwhile, the Kia Morning has 5 variants priced between 349 and 424 million VND.
As of November 2024, the Toyota Wigo has sold 2,407 units, ranking second in the A-segment car category. However, it lags behind the Hyundai Grand i10 by 2,673 units.
The Toyota Wigo was officially launched in Vietnam on June 6, 2023, with 2 variants and prices ranging from 360 to 405 million VND. The exterior of the Wigo stands out with its bold lines, large grille, and modern full-LED lighting system.
Inside, the Wigo features a sleek 3-spoke steering wheel, a 7-inch multifunction display, and a 4-speaker audio system.
Under the hood, the Toyota Wigo is equipped with a 1.2L engine that delivers a maximum output of 87 horsepower and 113 Nm of torque. The power is transmitted to the wheels through a Dual-CVT automatic transmission.
