Accelerating Progress

On November 27, Dong Nai Power Company energized the 110kV transformer station (TBA) and connected the power supply line to Long Thanh Airport. The project has a total investment of 119 billion VND and is divided into two phases. In the first phase, the construction of the station and the installation of 1 transformer (MBA) with a capacity of 40MVA, along with a 2-circuit 3.8km long line connecting to the existing 110kV Binh Son – Go Dau line to the station gate tower. The second phase will involve the installation of the second 40MVA MBA, bringing the total capacity of the Long Thanh Airport 110kV TBA to 80MVA, and is expected to be operational by the third quarter of 2025.

The Long Thanh Airport power supply transformer station and power line have been completed.

Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Duc, CEO of EVNSPC, stated that the 110kV Long Thanh Airport TBA will ensure a stable power supply for the airport’s operations. It will also reduce the 22kV supply radius, decrease losses, improve voltage quality, and enhance reliability for the surrounding area, meeting the N-1 criteria as directed by the Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN).

The construction of the Long Thanh Airport 110kV TBA and its power supply line began in June 2024. The investor and related units, including contractors and consultants, have exerted tremendous efforts, mobilizing human resources and equipment to work day and night to complete the project ahead of schedule and ensure power supply for this national key project.

Proactive Power Supply

Mr. Truong Dinh Quoc, Director of Dong Nai Power Company, shared that since the inception of the Long Thanh Airport project, Dong Nai Power Company has been working closely with the airport’s management board to assess and understand the power requirements for each phase of construction. They have also conducted thorough inspections and reviews of the operational status of the 22kV power lines supplying electricity to the airport. Thanks to this proactive approach, the power supply for each stage of the project has been consistently guaranteed.

The average monthly electricity consumption for the Long Thanh Airport construction site is approximately 630,330kWh, equivalent to a daily average of 20,333kWh. The highest daily operating power reaches about 90A, corresponding to a maximum power (Pmax) of 4MW.

The airport area is primarily powered by two main lines: the 479 Danh Du line, which receives electricity from the 110/22kV Binh Son TBA, and the 474 Xuan Duong line, supplied by the 110/22kV Cam My TBA. There is also a backup line, the 471 Quoc Te line, powered by the 110/22kV Bau Xe TBA. These lines are interconnected to facilitate load transfer when needed, ensuring a stable and continuous power supply for the airport’s construction.

To date, Long Thanh Power Company has inspected and energized 32 distribution TBAs with a total capacity of 19,605 kVA to provide electricity for the airport’s construction units. The 479 Danh Du line supplies power to 25 TBAs with a total capacity of 13,355 kVA, while the 474 Xuan Duong line powers 7 TBAs with a total capacity of 6,250 kVA.

Additionally, Dong Nai Power Company is in the process of upgrading the 110kV Long Thanh – My Xuan line to ensure a long-term stable power supply for the airport.
