On March 17, a task force from the Provincial Party Committee and People’s Committee of Ca Mau province inspected the site and reviewed the progress of land clearance for the expansion and upgrade of Ca Mau Airport, as well as the construction of the Ganh Hao Bridge project, connecting Ca Mau and Bac Lieu provinces.
Regarding the Ca Mau Airport expansion project, Mr. Nguyen Ho Hai, Secretary of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee, emphasized the importance of compensation and land clearance, stating that it must be carried out in accordance with legal regulations while ensuring fairness and protecting the legitimate rights of the people. He added that while creating favorable conditions for affected households to relocate and improve their lives, it is also crucial to firmly combat acts of profiteering and causing losses.

Mr. Hai also instructed that there should be no negligence in land clearance work. If any officials perform poorly or fail to complete their tasks, they should be considered for reduction during the organizational apparatus arrangement. He further urged local authorities to step up propaganda efforts to ensure that all strata of the people understand the importance of the project, which has been prioritized by the Central government for Ca Mau.
The spirit of the province, as emphasized by the Secretary, is: “Ca Mau has a ready site waiting for construction, not the other way around.” The land clearance work for the airport upgrade and expansion must be completed by mid-April 2025.
The expansion and upgrade project of Ca Mau Airport is invested by the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) with a total investment of approximately VND 2,400 billion, using 100% of ACV’s owner’s equity. The project involves land clearance of over 105 hectares in Ward 6 and Tan Thanh Ward (Ca Mau city), affecting the land of 3 organizations and more than 600 households.

Later in the afternoon, the task force, led by the Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and the Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ca Mau province, inspected the construction of the Ganh Hao Bridge project, with a total investment of over VND 650 billion. As of now, more than 80% of the volume of work has been completed. According to the investor, the construction progress is being accelerated to finish and put into use by April 30.
The expansion and upgrade of Ca Mau Airport and the construction of the Ganh Hao Bridge are large-scale projects invested by the Central government. Along with other projects, they will create a driving force for the socio-economic development of Ca Mau province.
