On March 18, the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) briefed the Vietnamese press on a delegation of over 60 leading US corporations, including technology, defense, and energy companies, exploring investment opportunities in Vietnam.

The US business delegation is scheduled to work in Vietnam from March 18 to 20. According to the agenda, the USABC delegation will hold important meetings with Vietnamese government and party leaders to discuss promoting cooperation in high-tech, finance, logistics, energy, healthcare, agriculture, and other sectors. The delegation will also attend events organized by USABC, including a gala dinner on March 18 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the normalization of US-Vietnam relations.

Participating companies include well-known names such as Boeing, Apple, Intel, Coca-Cola, Nike, Amazon, Bell Textron, and Excelerate Energy.

Mr. Ted Osius, former US Ambassador to Vietnam and Chairman of USABC, stated that the record number of US businesses visiting Vietnam reflects their strong confidence in the country’s future and their commitment to expanding trade and investment. The United States is currently Vietnam’s second-largest trading partner, while Vietnam is the eighth-largest trading partner of the United States, presenting vast opportunities for businesses from both countries.

“In the face of global trade uncertainties, including tariff risks for Vietnam, the American business community remains steadfast and committed to fostering a stable and mutually beneficial trade relationship,” said Mr. Osius. “We recognize the challenges ahead, but we also see tremendous potential for deeper cooperation between our two countries.”

Mr. Osius commended the Vietnamese government for its comprehensive reforms in institutions and administrative procedures, which boost economic growth and improve the business environment, creating new opportunities for American companies.

“These reforms align with US priorities in promoting supply chain recovery and market access for products,” Mr. Osius remarked. “The actions taken by the Vietnamese government today will have long-lasting impacts on the economy.”

The USABC representative also shared that, following the visit of Vietnamese leaders to the US last year to enhance cooperation in high technology, American businesses are now working closely with their Vietnamese counterparts to develop ‘Made in Vietnam’ tech products for global export. Regarding AI technology, USABC affirmed Meta’s long-term commitment to Vietnam.

“This year, the focus of US tech companies’ cooperation with Vietnamese partners is to create the largest database ever to build a ‘pure Vietnamese’ AI model,” the representative said. “This model will understand Vietnamese culture and people and serve the Vietnamese in their native language. Notably, American businesses are collaborating with organizations to introduce and train nearly one million students and teachers nationwide in AI programs.”
