On May 8, the online community, especially coffee enthusiasts and Starbucks aficionados, were abuzz with excitement as Starbucks Hanoi Post Office officially opened its doors. Located in a prime spot on the first floor of Hanoi Post Office building at 87 Dinh Tien Hoang Street (Hoan Kiem District), with a direct view of Ho Guom, the store’s design seamlessly blends French colonial architecture with Vietnamese cultural influences. All these elements contribute to making Starbucks one of the brands with the most “prime and unique” store collections.

While the rental price for Starbucks’ new location has not been disclosed, according to real estate and rental websites, securing a spot on Dinh Tien Hoang Street in Hanoi typically costs a minimum of VND 200 million per month.

Even a year or two ago, rental prices on this street were not much cheaper, still hovering around VND 200 million per month and above.

Occupying Prime Locations with High Rent: How’s Starbucks Vietnam Performing?

Prior to the opening of Starbucks Hanoi Post Office, in February 2025, Starbucks also inaugurated a Starbucks Reserve store spanning 600 square meters at 6A Quang Trung, Hoan Kiem District – one of the busiest areas in Hanoi. The estimated rent for this location is no less than VND 300 million per month.

In Ho Chi Minh City, after vacating the premises at 11-13 Han Thuyen Street (District 1) in August 2024, Starbucks officially inaugurated a Starbucks Reserve store in the Bitexco Financial Tower in April 2025. According to real estate sources, the average rental price at Bitexco is around USD 150 per square meter per month. Thus, Starbucks may be paying nearly VND 980 million per month for the Starbucks Reserve store in Bitexco – 63% higher than their previous location and about 30% higher than the new rental price of the Han Thuyen premises.

According to a 2024 report by Metric.vn, Starbucks Vietnam’s revenue in 2023 exceeded VND 1,300 billion, an 87% increase compared to 2022. This demonstrates Starbucks’ strong growth in Vietnam in 2024, despite economic fluctuations.

The same report also estimated that Starbucks Vietnam holds approximately 4% of the market share in the Vietnamese coffee market.

Starbucks entered the Vietnamese market in 2013, with its first store in District 1, right at the bustling intersection of Phu Dong Roundabout. As of late 2023, Starbucks had reached the milestone of 100 stores in Vietnam. In 2024 and early 2025, the chain continued to expand its operations, including premium models.

While the Starbucks brand is well-known, not many are aware of the “power behind” this chain in Vietnam. According to the National Portal on Business Registration, the legal entity operating the Starbucks coffee chain in Vietnam is Vietnam Creative Food and Beverage Company Limited, established on November 24, 2012. The company’s head office is located in Ben Thanh Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. Currently, the company has a charter capital of over VND 2.08 billion. The owner of this company is Global Flavors Corporation.

The legal representatives of Vietnam Creative Food and Beverage Company Limited are Mr. Ho Mai Ho (born in 1977) and Mr. Tan, Kwang-kin Norbert (born in 1972). Mr. Ho also represents the company’s branches in various provinces, such as Hai Phong, Da Nang, Hung Yen, Nha Trang, and again in Hung Yen.

Mr. Ho Mai Ho

Mr. Ho Mai Ho has extensive experience in the retail and FMCG sectors, including over 10 years with DKSH Vietnam and Cambodia – a Swiss market development services company. Additionally, the CEO of Starbucks Vietnam has held management positions in renowned companies such as Area Sales Director at Nestle Vietnam, Branch Director at Masan Consumer, National Sales Manager at Societe Generale, and Sales Supervisor at Unilever.

He once shared: “I am proud to be a part of Starbucks in Vietnam and look forward to bringing even more new experiences to our customers.”

Prior to Mr. Ho, Starbucks Vietnam was led by Ms. Patricia Marques, a female entrepreneur who has been with Starbucks globally for over 30 years, including 10 years of building Starbucks Vietnam from its early days in the market.
