Vietnam Airlines has become the first Vietnamese airline to operate non-stop flights from Hanoi to Milan, one of Europe’s largest fashion and economic centers.
As planned, the Hanoi-Milan route will be operated from July 1, 2025, using the wide-body Boeing 787 Dreamliner, with a frequency of three round-trip flights per week and a total flight time of almost 12 hours each way.
The introduction of this new route will increase the number of non-stop routes operated by Vietnam Airlines to Europe to nine, while also expanding its international network and providing more convenient choices for passengers exploring Europe.

The Vietnam-Europe Tourism Promotion Program in Milan aimed to enhance exchange and cooperation in tourism and investment between the two countries and promote Vietnam’s destination to the European market.
During the event, representatives from the Embassy of Vietnam in Italy, the Italian National Tourism Agency (ENIT), and the Lombardy regional government committed to fostering bilateral cooperation in tourism and economics.
On the Vietnamese side, the National Tourism Administration, Hanoi Tourism Department, and major airlines and travel companies such as Vietnam Airlines and Saigontourist Group introduced new tourism products and services, updated visa policies, and provided market information to strengthen connections with international partners.
Speaking at the event, Ms. Alessandra Priante, President of ENIT, stated, “We welcome the establishment of non-stop flights between Hanoi and Milan, which strongly boosts bilateral tourism cooperation. Italy and Vietnam boast unique cultures and outstanding tourism values. With the support of airlines, businesses, and promotional agencies from both sides, we believe in a future of extensive, efficient, and sustainable cooperation in the tourism industry.”
Earlier, at the Destination Italy event held in Hanoi, Mr. Dinh Van Tuan, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines, emphasized, “The non-stop Hanoi-Milan route, expected to be operated from July, will shorten the geographical distance and facilitate travelers’ exploration of the beauty of both Italy and Vietnam. We are striving to realize the goal of welcoming 22-23 million international visitors in 2025, and Italy, with its vast tourism potential and favorable visa policy, is expected to be one of the important markets contributing to this success.”
The inauguration of this new route not only offers passengers more convenient travel options but also reaffirms Vietnam Airlines’ pioneering role and its mission of ‘Taking-off with the Country’: connecting Vietnam to the world and accompanying the country’s deep integration process.
Previously, Vietnamese passengers traveling to Italy often had to connect through transit hubs such as Paris, Frankfurt, or Doha, prolonging their journey. Now, with the non-stop Hanoi-Milan route, travelers can easily access the ‘land of great heritages’ and explore ancient cities such as Rome, Florence, and Venice, as well as the world’s pinnacle of artistic wonders.

In the opposite direction, Italian passengers will also have the opportunity to experience famous destinations in Vietnam, such as Hanoi, Ha Long, Hoi An, Hue, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City, thanks to the non-stop flight option, making their journey faster and more convenient than ever.
This tourism promotion event, along with the inauguration of the Hanoi-Milan non-stop route, not only expands the aviation network but also strengthens the friendly relations and economic and cultural cooperation between Vietnam and Italy.
Through its unwavering efforts over the past three decades, Vietnam Airlines continues to affirm its role as a solid bridge, bringing Vietnam’s image to the world and connecting Vietnamese values with the global community.
