On May 13, the Da Nang People’s Committee Office announced the city’s approval for the second phase of the An Thuong Tourist Street project in My An Ward, Ngu Hanh Son District.

The project is estimated to cost over VND 100 billion from the city’s budget and will be implemented during the period of 2024-2027. The first two years will be dedicated to preparation, while the second phase will focus on synchronous investment in technical infrastructure, landscape improvement, and expansion of experiential spaces for tourists.

An Thuong Tourist Street previously received an investment of VND 36.5 billion for upgrades.

A notable highlight of the project is the central square combined with an outdoor sports area, featuring a stage, fountain, relaxation area, greenery, exercise equipment, and modern lighting system.

Da Nang will also upgrade sidewalks, greenery, and technical systems on major roads such as Hoang Ke Viêm, Châu Thị Vĩnh Tế, Ngô Thì Sĩ, and Mai Thúc Lân.

Internal routes such as An Thuong 5, 7, and 8 will be widened from 3.5 meters to 5.5 meters, and will be paved with stone and equipped with lighting, decorative electrical systems, telecommunications, and water drainage infrastructure.

The architectural focal point of the second phase of the “Western Street” upgrade is the central square with a stage and fountain…

The entire area will be installed with technical wiring for a security camera system and public wifi. The city will also invest in a unified brand identity system, along with the undergrounding of low-voltage power and telecommunications systems in branch roads.

According to the Da Nang People’s Committee, the project is not just an infrastructure development but also a long-term strategy to boost the night-time economy, enhance tourism services, and create a unique identity for the An Thuong area – known as the “Western Street” due to its popularity among international visitors.

The first phase of the project was completed and put into use in April 2022, connecting with the My An night beach activities and forming a vibrant space for entertainment, shopping, and dining, both during the day and at night.
