Cục Quản lý Dược Orders Recall of Hanayuki Sunscreen Body Products Due to Mislabeled SPF Value
The Drug Administration Department of Vietnam’s Ministry of Health has ordered a nationwide recall of Hanayuki Sunscreen Body products due to violations regarding their stated sun protection factor (SPF) value.
The product in question, with the receipt number 779/24/CBMP-ĐN, batch number 0010125, manufactured on 06/01/2025, and expiring on 05/01/2027, is marketed by VB Group JSC and manufactured by EBC Group JSC (now known as EBC Dong Nai Medical JSC).
According to the test results from Ho Chi Minh City Drug Quality Control Institute, the actual SPF value of the product is only 2.4, despite the label claiming an SPF of 50.
In response, the Drug Administration Department has instructed local Health Departments to notify businesses and consumers to immediately stop distributing and using the non-compliant product. VB Group JSC and EBC Dong Nai Medical JSC are responsible for issuing a recall notice to their distributors, accepting returned products, and ensuring the complete retrieval of the substandard batch.
If the violating elements cannot be removed, the companies are obligated to destroy the products according to legal regulations. A recall report must be submitted to the Drug Administration Department by June 15, 2025.
Additionally, the Health Departments of Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai province are tasked with overseeing the recall process and inspecting compliance with legal provisions related to cosmetic production and trading. The inspection and supervision results must be reported to the Drug Administration Department by June 30, 2025.
Notably, this is not the first time Hanayuki products have been recalled. Previously, the Drug Administration Department ordered the recall and destruction of Hanayuki Shampoo due to violations regarding microbial limits and the presence of 2-Phenoxyethanol, an unregistered ingredient.
VB Group JSC, the entity behind the Hanayuki cosmetic brand, is represented by Mr. Nguyen Quoc Vu, husband of singer Doan Di Bang, who serves as its legal representative and General Director.
