The Hoa Binh – Moc Chau Expressway project, with a total length of approximately 85km, took a significant step forward with the commencement of construction in the Son La province. This follows the earlier groundbreaking in Hoa Binh province in late 2024, covering around 53km of the route.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh emphasized the strategic importance of the project, completing the Hanoi – Hoa Binh – Son La – Dien Bien high-speed axis as per the master plan. This route will not only facilitate trade and tourism development but also reduce congestion on National Highway 6, enhancing transport capacity and boosting socio-economic growth, national defense, and security in the region.

The Deputy Prime Minister commended the collaboration between central ministries and the governments of Son La and Hoa Binh provinces in preparing the project, especially in land clearance and investment procedures. He urged the relevant units to maintain close coordination to ensure the project’s timely and quality execution.

Along with emphasizing construction safety, technical precision, and environmental protection, the Deputy Prime Minister also stressed the importance of taking care of the local community’s well-being, providing stable housing, and creating livelihoods for households that have handed over their land.

Contractors are required to demonstrate accountability, adhere to the construction schedule, and ensure weekly and monthly progress. They must also uphold their commitments and comply with legal regulations, including preventing corruption and wastefulness during project implementation.

Upon completion, the project is expected to provide a significant boost to Son La province and the entire Northwest region, fostering regional linkage and sustainable development.
