On May 27th, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction announced adjustments to traffic on the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway approach road.
To ensure traffic safety and order on the expressway approach, motorcycles will be prohibited from traveling on the Ho Chi Minh City section of the approach road (from An Phu intersection to Vo Chi Cong Street in Thu Duc City) in both directions starting June 7th.
Suggested alternative routes include: Vo Chi Cong Street – Nguyen Duy Trinh Street → Do Xuan Hop Street – parallel road on the right side of the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway – Mai Chi Tho Street, and vice versa.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction reminds road users to obey traffic officers and follow road signage. Prior to this announcement, on May 20th, the Department received a proposal from the Road Traffic Infrastructure Management Center regarding traffic adjustments on this route. After careful consideration, the Department approved the proposed adjustments.
To ensure a smooth implementation and minimize disruptions for commuters, the Department has requested the Road Traffic Infrastructure Management Center to promptly install signage and banners to inform affected communities. The Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Safety Committee’s office is also tasked with disseminating the adjusted traffic plan through various communication channels to keep road users informed and help them choose alternative routes.
Additionally, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction has requested the Ho Chi Minh City Police to strengthen traffic patrol and control to ensure safety and order during the transition. The People’s Committee of Thu Duc City has been asked to inform relevant wards so that local residents are aware of the new regulations and comply with them.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction, the decision to ban motorcycles from the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway approach road is to ensure traffic safety and adhere to the original design. Previously, motorcycles were temporarily allowed on the two lanes when the parallel road was unavailable. Now that the parallel road is complete and operational, the approach road can resume its intended function as per the master plan.
