On May 26, 2025, the Food Safety Department (Ministry of Health) issued two documents, No. 1097/ATTP-SP and No. 1098/ATTP-SP, to Lazada Vietnam Commercial Company Limited and Shopee Limited Company, requesting an urgent review of the business operations of nutritional products on the e-commerce platforms operated by the two units.
According to the post-inspection results, the Food Safety Department discovered several nutritional products belonging to the health-protecting food group being advertised and sold on Shopee and Lazada without obtaining the necessary registration certificate for the product announcement. The infringing products include: Omega 3-6-9 1600mg; Natto Kinase 4000fu; Estroven – Complete Multi – Sympton; Kirkland Glucosamine 1500mg & Chondroitin 1200mg; and Glucosamine 1500mg With MSM 1500mg.
The authorities requested Shopee and Lazada to urgently review their business practices and only trade in nutritional products that have been duly authorized or declared in the Food Safety Information Data Update System. At the same time, the sale of infringing products must be halted, and all related information must be removed.
The Food Safety Department required the two companies to submit a report on the implementation results in writing before May 30, 2025.
Previously, on November 14, 2024, the Department also issued a warning about the business of similar products without legal documents. The recurrence of similar violations indicates that the management of the business of nutritional products on e-commerce platforms still has many shortcomings.
