The large-cap stocks’ strong recovery pushed the VN-Index above the 1340 mark, but the spotlight this morning belonged to the securities group. 5 out of the 10 most liquid stocks in the market were from the securities sector, and the 5 stocks with the largest net foreign buying were also in this sector.
The only regret is that the securities stocks have relatively small market capitalizations and couldn’t pull the VN-Index up significantly. Among the 10 stocks with the strongest contribution to the index’s gain this morning, SSI contributed about 0.3 points.
Nevertheless, the explosive growth of the securities group had a good stimulating effect on market sentiment. This group started the day with a gap up, with most stocks opening higher. All but one stock in this group, VFS, were in the green, with 28 stocks gaining over 1%, including 16 stocks surging more than 3%.
The stocks in this group that attracted the most substantial trading volume were SSI, with a turnover of 845.5 billion VND and a price increase of 2.95%; VND with 613 billion VND and a 5.2% price jump; HCM with a turnover of 331.6 billion VND and a 3.69% price hike; VIX with 319.2 billion VND and a 1.8% gain; and VCI with a turnover of 298.5 billion VND, climbing by 2.89%. Other notable performers in this group, despite lower liquidity, included APG, which hit the ceiling price, MBS rising by 5.17%, SBS climbing by 4.26%, BVS up by 3.95%, ABW gaining 3.8%, and SHS increasing by 3.73%… HoSE had 27 stocks with a turnover of over 100 billion VND, including 6 from the securities sector.
Foreign investors also unexpectedly snapped up a considerable amount of securities stocks. APG, in particular, witnessed a large block trade of 383.8 billion VND net buying. Additionally, VND (+908 billion), VCI (+49.2 billion), HCM (+47.9 billion), and CTS (+20 billion) also stood out in terms of net foreign buying.
Despite the robust performance of the securities group, the VN-Index’s rise was still dependent on the large-cap stocks. VIC only improved from around 11:00 am onwards, ending the morning session with a 1.12% gain. TCB had the strongest opening, peaking at 9:45 am with a 3.4% surge, but it tapered off, closing the morning with a 2.27% increase. FPT followed a similar pattern, hitting a high of 1.64% around 10:00 am and currently up by 1.21%. Other notable large-cap gainers included HPG, up by 1.17%, and VPB, climbing by 1.67%. These five stocks contributed over 3.6 points to the VN-Index’s total gain of 9.03 points. The index closed the morning session at 1345.33, surpassing the March high but still falling short of setting a new peak compared to the previous four sessions.
The VN30 basket witnessed a solid recovery among many large-cap stocks, currently up by 0.92% from the reference price, with 26 gainers and only 2 losers. The VN30-Index outperformed the VN-Index (+0.68%) due to the more significant impact of TCB, FPT, HPG, and MSN in this index. Eleven stocks in the basket rose over 1%, but not many true heavyweights stood out. SSI, BVH, HDB, MSN, and BCM are not yet among the top-performing stocks. The two losers in the basket were LPB, down by 0.16%, and STB, falling by 0.48%.

The HoSE breadth is currently showing a dominant uptrend, with 187 gainers and 117 losers. Among the gainers, 89 stocks rose over 1%, accounting for 58.2% of the floor’s total trading value. This indicates an impressive and highly concentrated price-driving effect of the money flow. Nearly 20 stocks in this strongest group recorded a turnover of over 100 billion VND. In addition to securities stocks, notable performers included TCB, DIG, FPT, VIC, HPG, GEX, VPB, BAF, MSN, and DCM…
The mid- and small-cap stocks also witnessed strong individual performances but maintained overall differentiation. The mid-cap index rose by 0.76%, while the small-cap index climbed by 0.58%, underperforming the blue-chip group. However, several outstanding performers in these two groups saw significant gains, although liquidity was limited, such as APG, VND, CSM, CSV, DRH, CTI, PVT, DCM, SKG, AGR, and BSI, all surging by at least 3%.
On the downside, very few stocks faced substantial selling pressure. Among the 117 losers, 41 stocks fell by over 1%, but the trading volume was mainly concentrated in 9 stocks with a turnover of at least 10 billion VND. A few notable losers included NVL, dropping by 2.7% with a turnover of 236.5 billion VND; VPI, falling by 2.16% with 80.9 billion VND; HVN, declining by 1.19% with 75.4 billion VND; VSC, down by 1.67% with 53.5 billion VND; DPG, slipping by 1.02% with 28.8 billion VND; and VPG, plunging by 6.69% with 24.8 billion VND.
Foreign investors this morning increased their investment scale by 67% compared to yesterday morning, reaching 1,465.2 billion VND. Net buying stood at 424.9 billion VND, with APG accounting for the lion’s share. In addition to the securities sector, notable net buying was observed in SHB (+79.5 billion), MBB (+29.6 billion), VNM (+27.5 billion), BAF (+26.3 billion), and VIC (+51.2 billion). On the net selling side, CII (-52 billion), PVD (-34.9 billion), HAH (-31.4 billion), HPG (-29.9 billion), FPT (-48.9 billion), and STB (-41.9 billion) stood out.
