On June 6, the Statistics Bureau announced that in May, the country recorded 15,100 new business registrations with a total capital of over VND 156.7 trillion and 98,100 employees.

Compared to the same period last year, the number of businesses increased by 6.1%, registered capital increased by 16.6%, and the number of employees increased significantly by 29.3%.

Thus, the average registered capital of a newly established enterprise in the month reached VND 10.4 billion, up 18% compared to the previous month and up 9.9% over the same period last year. Besides the number of newly established enterprises, the country also had more than 8,000 enterprises resuming operations, up 18.8% over the same period of 2024, indicating the economy’s recovery.

In the first five months, the country had nearly 66,800 newly registered enterprises with a total registered capital of VND 647.1 trillion and a total registered labor force of 453,900. Accordingly, the total registered capital added to the economy in the first five months of this year was nearly VND 2,279.5 trillion, up 83.8% over the same period in 2024.

Notably, the economy recorded more than 45,000 businesses resuming operations in the first five months, up 32.2% over the same period in 2024. Thus, the total number of newly established and resumed businesses so far this year has exceeded 111,800, up 11.3% over the same period in 2024.

By economic sector, the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector had 627 newly established enterprises, down 1.7% over the same period last year. The industry and construction sector had more than 15,200 enterprises, down 3.9%. The service sector had nearly 50,900 enterprises, up 2%.

Along with these positive signals, the number of businesses exiting the market remains high. In May, the whole market had 5,924 enterprises registering for temporary suspension of business, 6,535 enterprises temporarily suspending operations waiting for dissolution procedures, and 1,909 enterprises completing dissolution procedures. On average, more than 22,300 businesses exited the market each month in the first five months.
