Reviving the Old Soul in a Modern Design

Cat Ba, the jewel of Ha Long Bay, carries a historical story spanning millennia. Over 7,000 years ago, in the ancient fishing village of Cai Beo (Vung O), the first inhabitants forged a unique seafood culture, intimately tied to the sea.

The simple wooden boats, gently rocking on the waves of Lan Ha Bay, have become an immortal symbol, deeply etched into the memory of this land. Accompanying this, the carpentry of Hai Phong, with the crisp sounds of chisels and hammers on the village roads, breathed life into homes—these boats bore the indelible marks of time. It is these cultural values that inspired The Xanh 2, as a profound tribute to the Cat Ba heritage.

The Xanh 2, part of the Green Island City project, revives the old soul with its unique architectural form, reminiscent of the wooden boats moored on Cat Ba’s shores millennia ago. The building’s position blends seamlessly with the natural terrain, becoming a perfect piece in the picturesque landscape facing Lan Ha Bay.

Notably, wood—the soul of traditional carpentry—has become the predominant material in the design of The Xanh 2. The wooden components, frames, and joints are crafted with exquisite precision, exuding a rustic, warm, and familiar ambiance without compromising luxury. Wood is not just a material here; it is a storyteller, evoking memories of ancient villages and reviving the essence of local culture.

The bustling commercial street at the foot of the building, with its Phung Moc and Phung Ren subdivisions, draws inspiration from traditional craft streets, offering a vibrant experience for residents and visitors alike. The scenic Huyen Vu River enhances the fusion of architecture and nature, creating a complete living space.

Inviting Nature into Living Spaces

True to its name, each apartment in The Xanh 2 is designed based on a green living philosophy, harmoniously integrated with nature. According to Mr. Miguel Falcao Fernandes, Executive Director of AEDAS, the Green Island City project draws its inspiration from the stunning natural beauty and unique terrain of the area—nestled against majestic mountains and facing the vast East Sea. This “leaning on the mountain, facing the water” setting offers a privileged view for high-rise homeowners and brings auspicious energy to the land, according to feng shui beliefs.

“We want the architecture not only to blend with the landscape but also to become a complete tribute to this UNESCO-recognized heritage site,” said Mr. Miguel Falcao Fernandes.

Here, the apartment’s functionality is creatively designed and optimized for spaciousness, with ceiling heights reaching 3.5 meters and balconies stretching to 1.2 meters wide. The large glass doors, from floor to ceiling, not only add a touch of modernity and elegance to the apartments but also allow natural light to flood the living spaces. Homeowners can bask in the sunshine, breathe in the sea breeze, and capture the breathtaking views of Lan Ha Bay from their balconies.

According to AEDAS, the project’s scale will shape the residents’ experience. The first floor’s height reaches 7 meters, creating a sense of openness that makes guests feel the architecture’s presence powerfully. “We worked closely with landscape designers to realize the investor’s vision: a commitment that the overall project would respect the natural terrain and provide an exceptional experience for residents and visitors. Together, we form a complete approach to architecture that transcends aesthetics,” added Mr. Miguel Falcao Fernandes.

To create a quintessential green living space, premium materials were meticulously selected for The Xanh 2, and design details were thoughtfully considered in a minimalist luxury style infused with graceful Asian influences. With the collaboration between Sun Group, experienced local architects and engineers, and the international team at AEDAS, The Xanh 2 offers residents a chance to reconnect with nature and embrace a refined lifestyle amidst the heritage site.

With its prime location, The Xanh 2 also becomes one of the best vantage points for enjoying the fireworks display in the Green Island City project. From the apartment’s balcony, residents can witness the Symphony of the Green Island, a performance set against the backdrop of Lan Ha Bay, which has achieved two Guinness World Records with a total investment of nearly VND 200 billion. This spectacular show is expected to attract millions of visitors, contributing to the vibrancy of central Cat Ba.
